Bass extension for the Bose L1 Compact?

I’ve been a happy Bose L1 Compact Tonematch owner for about a year now, and have been using it go gig with an acoustic duo/trio - 1-2 male guitars/vocals and a female singer. Sometimes a bass player sits in and just plugs in to my L1 Tonematch, and hence I want to bring out more bass. Besides the Bose bass modules, what portable non-Bose product would you recommend? For example this video mentions the Energy Speaker Systems ESWM8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4XYf-fRx0U

Hi ZillaG,

From what I’ve read around the web, that particular portable sub is discontinued.

"Sometimes a bass player sits in"

I’ve welcomed bassists to sit in with small ensembles when I’ve been using one or two Compacts. This worked fine in small rooms with an attentive audience.

You want to make sure that on Compact Channel 2, you have the ToneMatch switch set to Line Level (down). This will give you more bass response than if the switch is up (for Guitar).

If the bassist feels s/he needs more bottom end than the Compact puts out, I’d invite her to bring a long a small bass amp. All the electric bassists I know have something they can bring along.

I’ve been doing this for awhile and I’m encouraging you to look at other ways to solve the problem besides throwing (your own) money at it.

If you’re willing to put your own money into this, consider getting a Model 1S with a B2 bass module. You’ll have a lot more bass, and you will be able to work in larger rooms. You’ve already got the T1® so it’ll be easy to wire things up.

Hi Zilla,
Here is the replacement for the one you mentioned:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0021…oliid=I35TST7Z3N7H8A
You can also get a bigger one:

They have a crossover built in…
I occasionally use this sub with 2 compacts and a crossover:

Amazing sound and still light weight Smile
Saw it on YouTube. The guy uses it with one compact.
Hope this helps.
