Broken driver on Radiator!

Playing a gig last night, and heard what sounded like your typical blown speaker in my L1M2; fuzzy, distorted, etc.  Sounded that way from the first note of the night.  Decided to open her up today, and the photo shows what I discovered.  The magnet of this driver is literally half-broken off the frame!  This is the upper-most speaker on the lower radiator.

Anyone seen this before?  My system is 16 months old, and while it gets used a lot (I average at least 4 gigs per week), I do take care not to abuse it.  Going to call Bose on Monday and see what we can do about getting me a new speaker.  Any ideas on prices?  If they're reasonable, I might buy 3 or 4 (even if they comp me for the busted one) just to keep as spares!

I hope they'll consider overnighting them to me at reasonable cost....I've got gigs galore for New Year's Eve, etc!  Luckily there are 23 other speakers to pick up the slack.....

I understand impedance issues and all that, but would it be a major no-no to remove this one speaker and run only the 23 if I can't get a replacement in time?  I can still use the system with the broken driver, but man that sound is really annoying!

Hi Ian,

I'm really sorry that this happened.

Call Bose on Monday. You've got a five-year warranty on the cylindrical radiators.

This is very rare... I was told by a Bose Tech the raw drivers nearly never fail due to the built in protections in the powerstands...

Let me say this:  Bose rules.  Customer service was amazing.  All I wanted was a speaker...they insisted on replacing the entire Cylindrical Radiator stack instead.  Even rush-shipped the unit so I wouldn't have any issues with my upcoming gigs (starting tonight!).  Called Monday, package delivered today (Wednesday).  Incredible, and a totally hassle-free experience.  We all know these products are pricey, but this kind of customer support is truly an amazing value-added benefit that really makes them even more worth it.  Hats off to Bose!

I would have to say that Bose is the best company I have ever worked with regards to tech support and repairs. They have defiantly exceeded my expectations over the years in these departments! They make it easy to buy with confidence.
