CHOIRS DO'S & DONT'S (where to place L1)

Hi
how far behind a 30 person choir would you need to place a L1 mod 2 to get the sound around them.
Or is to the side better. this is the way we set up.

Here is a link to My Stage Layout in The Sketcher

Your sketch looks like you are on the right track, L1 beside, not behind.

we got to put it behind us in one rehearsal,(10’) behind last row, best sound yet for soloists.didn’t have condensers so that’s another thing to consider

Hi ST
would the audix m1250b be a good consideration for a choir. i realise your not involved in choir set ups, but your knowledge on all thing here is always worth reading

Hi Stephen-39,

I don’t have any direct experience with this microphone Audix M1250b but it looks to be a family of microphones and a system more than an individual unit. Lots of choices with respect to polar patterns and mountings. Do you have a local retailer who will allow you to give the unit a test-run?

Were you thinking of using the long boom suspended over the choir?

How many of these were you planning to use?

How wide is the choir (left to right)?

yes i was reading about the different catridiges, caridiod, hyper c,etc.the local dealer is where we bought L1 system, he is the agent for audix also, he doesn’t have this particular mic on his website, but i’m sure he could get them.Actually watched a video on the Audix website on how to mic a choir, very informative, believe it or not there is actually a system. check it out.the long boom is a better fit for us.
Acording to the vid one mic per 20 people, so two should do it.
the choir is 12 people wide at front (widest)
two rows of 10 behind
Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Do you have a link to the video? I’d like to watch that.

Thanks.

Hi ST,
