Our band is on the floor and everything , 8 mics and lines are fed through the 12 channel mixer and amplified with the Model 1 which is up on the stage behind us. The stage is used to hold the screen where the song lyrics are projected for the singalong .
We tried to amplify this setup for years with old style PA’s and monitors. We could never get the mics hot enough to pick up the harp. Our sound would always blast the kindergartens in the first row while leaving the grade 7’s uninspired in the back of the gym.
The Model 1 gives us no feedback while the harp is beautifully amplified. The drummer mixes the sound . The whole band hears itself at the same level as the grade 7’s hear it in the back of the gym. And the kindergarten’s don’t cover their ears as they sit up close to the band.
Bose probably does not want to promote this setup because it uses only one Model 1 but that’s all we need in our gym and the volume is still only set at 6.
Audience members complimented my singing this year saying my voice has become much richer. We really just got a new Bose PA. To be able to hear myself with such a rich tone made me think of a quote that always makes me laugh from the movie, Amadeus. “The audience loved me, I loved myself.”
