ok, so we’ve done about 10 shows with our new L1 and it sounds great except for in one venue…the problem is we play once a month there and the last 3 times we’ve had feedback anytime volume gets past 3 o clock. we don’t have alot of room in the pub and are kinda tucked in to a corner. At most i have maybe 4 feet between L1 and my mic. i try and position myself off to the side but there are three of us and it’s really tight. I’m pretty sure all my trims levels are perfect and i even tried the para eq…but i really have no clue how to work it…please give me some help cause its a great gig and they want us once a month.
thanks

Hi Vegas,
I know in some cramped spaces it can be more difficult than normal to avoid feedback.
What I would suggest is two things:
1) Work on the positioning and placement as best you can. Try to get yourself and the L1 so they are not on the same axis, so that your mic is pointing as much away from the L1 as possible.
2) You may also want to try a “close mic” singing technique, where you basically talk really close to the mic. They are much more sensitive within 2-3 inches than they are at say, 6-8 inches. Using this technique will allow you to compensate by turning down the trim on the mic, which should help to eliminate the feedback.
Also, if the feedback is only occurring while you are not using the mic, you can employ the noise gate (under comp/gate section) which you can dial in to effectively mute the mic when no one is using it.
Here’s a good reference on the L1 Wiki:
Microphone Feedback
Thanks for posting, and good luck!
