Input Clip Light Coming On

Hi Guys.   I did post about this once before but wondering if anyone else is having this issue since.   The input clip light seems to come on even at what I think is a pretty low volume.   I'm used to doing these outdoor events with my 802's & the amp doesn't clip for them & that's only 450w per side (1800VI amp).  The 802's are uncomfortably loud to stand in front of when they're cranked up.   The F1's are 1,000w RMS so it should be even louder but people are happily standing a foot in front of them no problem.    The output clip never comes on & it doesn't sound distorted.  Here's a vid:

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the video. From what I can see, we are we talking about red flickers on the F1 Model 812 Signal Clip lights. And the duration of the red lights is short.

When setting the Volume Control on the F1 Model 812 you can turn up the Volume Control until you see solid red, and then turn it down a little. Occasional red flickers (up to a second long) are okay. This may start to happen at -5 dB before clipping or with transient peaks. You will see these to warn you when you are approaching clipping. If you see solid red then you may be clipping.

It is completely fine to turn up the Volume well beyond 12:00 o'clock if you need to.

Lee, from what I saw in the video, everything is fine.

For anyone else following along, Lee mentioned a previous discussion. Here's a link to it.  Input Limiting Light Coming On

I had this issue and as you thought the same as in not really loud but these speaker really do need a input signal at least 24db in my opinion. If you trim to at least that on the channels you will find it much better and also your mixer will not go to red into clipping.Someone mentioned in a post somewhere to switch the input signal to to MIC which I don't think is really recommended but you will notice the true power of these fantastic speakers without maxing out.

Hi Lee, AJ,

It's completely fine to set the Input switch to the MIC setting.

There is no microphone specific processing (EQ) applied here.

There's no harm as long as the SIGNAL / CLIP lights are not solid red.

Hi Lee

Thanks for clearing that up.
