Karaoke Software?

Hi,

I am planning to turn my lenovo T60 running Linux to a Karaoke source.
Please help suggest the software, hardware (cables…etc…).
I may even have to switch platform. If so please suggest ones that work well for you.

Is there other alternatives? a pre-built Karaoke box?

Thanks in advance.

I use sax and dottie show hoster. Pretty inexpensive and has been working fine for years.

It’s windows based. Have no idea how it would work with linux

I use Itunes.

I use PCDJKJ Karaoke Hoster and have never had any issues
and i believe it can be downloaded free on the pcdj site the(old blue version)
I’ve used many other programs and always come back to the simplest to operate PCDJ-KJ
I use it with XP Pro
& remember

I use Itunes.

HI JD

Never knew Itunes could display Karaoke graphic's. Also, I have down loaded a few KJ tunes "from" Itunes but the graphic's never download.

Virtual DJ. One software program for almost all entertainment media with 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and more players plus a direct connection to the internet to download from iTunes / Amazon etc, or even connect to a remote server.

Plays almost every audio format, every major video format, internal or external slide shows, and karaoke.

Does not do laundry (yet).

iTunes does try to sell karaoke tracks, but what they really are is just the instrumental music with no lyrics. This is NOT where I get my karaoke. My karaoke is ripped off discs using Power Karaoke to Ipod Converter software. This converts the tracks to MPG4 video format. Then I use my iTunes movie library to organize the tracks.

There are some very nice things about using iTunes for karaoke…it’s easy to look for tracks since you don’t have to decide when searching if you want to search by song or artist. Also you can make as many playlists as you want. Plus it’s free so if you ever have to re-download it.

There are two kinda down sides about using it though. 1) it has no pitch change (which doesn’t bother me) 2) it’s a little slow to load each tracks - It takes about 10-15 seconds for a song to load.

What I do is- double click on the track I want to play, then press the space bar to pause it. I then give it about 10 seconds to load mean while I announce the next singer & once they are up by my booth and ready… so is iTunes! I then press the space bar again & the show continues.

I use Sax & Dotty on the Windows laptop and kjams on my mac.

I started out with Winamp (free) with the Karaoke plug in. (free) and the $10 pacemaker plug in.
I use either that or Virtual DJ 7. Depends on what mood I’m in.

I use MTU’s Hoster and have for years. Plenty of features and, once you get everything on your PC configured right, very stable.
