I will be using both my systems [Classic and 2 with Tonematch] for a large venue [one each side of the stage]and need to know how to use my mic through both to get maximum coverage. Having read all the negative dual mono comments, I`d really appreciate some solid advice!
Hi zatoichi,
How wide is the stage?
How big is the room?
Please tell me about all the inputs you will be running through the L1®s.
Hi ST and thanks for the response…I dont have specifics on the size, but it
s a 400-seat movie theatre, so the stage is obviously at least as wide as the latest movie epic! I did the same venue once before with just one Model 2 and it was almost, but not quite enough. For this event, I`ll just be using 2 mics for myself and another vocalist and my laptop for tracks: 3 inputs only into my Tonematch and then presumably the Classic from the Master Output?
Hi zatoichi,
You should be fine if you keep the Power Stands at least 20 feet apart. I’d resist the urge to angle them inwards toward the centre. You should not need to do this and if you do, you could cause some weird sounding artifacts out in the audience.
Yes:
T1® ToneMatch port connection to the Model II Power Stand
T1® Master Output to the Classic. I would connect to Channel 3 and set the Level to about “3” on the dial, and then fine-tune up or down as necessary.

Go easy on the reverb and/or delay.
Having two L1®s in a space where both can be heard will introduce delay effects (basically timing effects) out in the audience. If you add reverb or delay in that kind of situation you can lose intelligibility.
How’s that?
Great, thanks! BTW, am I correct in thinking that when you use the master out to another system, you get a mirror image of whatever`s inputed into the first one? In this case, via the Tonematch of course. My intial question/concern stems from my recalling reading somewhere that when when you link two systems, your mic will only come out of one…is that a reality or too much sake on my part??

That’s basically what happens. The T1® Master Output is an analog version of the digital signal sent to the Model II through the ToneMatch Port. When it’s all said and done, they sound pretty much the same.
When’s the show?
Its on Good Friday and I
ll be fronting a 16-piece big band who get pretty loud, so I will definitely need the extra coverage :] As always, thanks for your sound advice [if you`ll pardon the pun]and expertise ST!
