Hi, I have a still new in box mackie profx12v2 that I want to use with my l1 model 1. I’ve read here that I can’t go from the main outs on the mixer with xlr cables to the xlr 1 and 2 inputs on the model 1 because there is no ‘mic level’ switch on the outputs on this mixer.
Questioning if I should return this mixer and get a 1402vlz4 mackie, which does have the mic level switch on its main outs.
The profx12c2 has effects that I want, so i’m hoping you can help me find a way to stick with it.
Wondering if a stereo di box might be a possibility.
I know that you can use 1/4" cables to make an unbalanced connection, but then you can’t trim the model 1, or use the internal tonematch settings…right. I’m such a rookie, sorry.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi D,
You are right that you can simply use a 1/4" cable to make an unbalanced connection to the L1 powerstand. Now as long as you use inputs 1 and 2 with that quarter inch cable (as that receptacle takes both XLR and 1/4inch) you will still be able to use the benefits of the internal Tonematch presets and send a line level signal. The L1 Model 1 has the ability to receive a line level signal from its quarter inch connection and mic level from the xlr on the same input for channels 1 and 2. The trim will also correspond to that quarter inch input. Inputs 3 and 4 are the only inputs that are not associated with a Tonematch preset, so if you wanted to use the built-in presets you would simply avoid those.
I hope this helps clarify things, if not feel free to give us a ring at the number below!
Thank you,
