We cover modern top 40 country, classic country/western, and Southern US and Southern California rock songs. We used to play through a 14,000W PA system, and it’s now collecting dust.

Comments about the L1® System
Everyone is getting used to the new approach, but overall, very pleased. Our sound engineer hates it because he doesn’t get to tweak sound like he used to.

Quick note, we play with a backdrop made of thin nylon flags (USA and state of Alabama), and we are able to hide the L1’s “behind the curtain” so to speak, so folks don’t see where the awesome sound is coming from! I know it doesn’t make for great advertising for Bose though! And we discovered zero sound quality difference in front of or behind the flags. Sorry for the low quality pic…I’ll have better pics from our next big show in Feb, on a much wider stage where we can spread out!

A pic of our stage setup from last night’s “unplugged” gig. 4 L1’s lined up nicely. The FIRST time we were ever asked to turn down! Wow! There were a few folks in the crowd who commented on the sound, and didn’t even realize the lack of PA, yet there were no giant speakers onstage. When I pointed out the 4 sticks, they were speechless. A drummer in the crowd was so taken back by the Porchboard that he asked to sit in on a song to try it out. We’re nice folks, we let him, and he did great!
Another pic, showcasing that when we say we’re slimming down the stage gear, we really mean it! Ok, so not really, but we finally have an amp that makes the Bose look ginormous.
The pictures of the stage seems to be quite rocking and smashing! And yes you really mean it and not just say!

A shot of our stage from one of our gigs this weekend, this was just after setting up. The truss is 18’ wide to help give you some perspective. Note what’s not visible? All four L1’s are behind the flags, and not a single person in the crowd noticed there was no PA visible, except for our subs that were on either side of the stage. We’ve added a pair of Yorkville 1500w powered subs to handle the bass drum. Definitely overkill for anything indoors, and in the future, we’ll only employ one. For outdoor use, they’ll be gracious plenty. Drummer gets to schlep them around though.

That flag idea is a really good one.
And I love the "cow" themed paint job on that bass. Any personal touches like that are so cool.
