Got my compact yesterday. I had time to mess with it for about an hour in my home office.
Couple of things: I actually thought the UPS guy had given me an empty box when he handed me the extension box! The two can’t weigh as much as a can of beer!
I went straight in with my Taylor Doyle Dykes guitar and an Audix OM-5. I did notice a slight hiss from the mic but I’m not sure if it’s the Audix or something else. The hiss was low. I didn’t use my harmonizer or the T1.
Guitar sound: really full and warm. I was surprised that it sounded so good going straight in. I almost think it sounds better to me than the L1. I also tried a Taylor dreadnought with expression system. It sounded good but I think I preferred the Doyle Dykes with the L.R. Baggs system.
Bass response: a surprise here. I was under the impression that it would be pretty insubstantial but the sound, while not reaching as low as the B1, was really pretty full and deep. I played a few bass and drum tracks through it and it sounded purty good.
I didn’t get a chance to try it in the collapsed position and I’m thinking that’s how I’ll use it for my practice sessions which should be more frequent now that I won’t have to build and pack the L1 repeatedly.
Picked up a Compact last night. I’ll use it on the resaurant gig tonight. I’ll run everything, acoustic/midi accordion, vocal mic, Midjay Plus, through a Mackie 402 mixer. Sounds great in my 14’X40’ family room. We’ll see how it performs in a noisy restaurant.
Ciao,
Jerry
