hi there, I’m gonna start a rehearsal studio, catering to mostly death/black metal bands.
thinking of going full digital route, meaning, the guitars, bass, vocals, keyboards, drums (trigger) all goes to my multichannel audio interface. for guitars/bass, i’m gonna use cabinet speaker emulation (Peavey Revalver). all processed in the PC and output to the L1 compact.
for a small room (enough for instruments , probably a 3 seater sofa), can L1 do the job for our type of music ? plenty distortion, double pedaling and shouting
any advice greatly appreciated
I would recommend 2 Compacts … mainly so you can provide some separation of instruments and vocals. Treat the rehearsal room as a stereo listening area, and put each voice & instrument through only one channel (rather than a mono mix to both).
You’d only need 1 Compact to “fill” a small room with sound, but for effective rehearsals each person & instrument needs to be clearly heard, and it is FAR better to have clarity of sound which comes from separation of sound-sources.
