Hello, I just received (as a gift!) a new L1 Compact. I do a solo Country Gig using a Yamaha powered mixer currently…for voice I come through a Digitech Vocalist…so I don’t have XLR output…Can I use an adapter from 1/4in to XLR to use the mic input on the Compact? I also use a Roland RA-50 for drums and backup…coming from that into the second channel should be no problem. I usually also connect my guitar amp to the inst channel on the mixer to get my guitar to the mains. I think the only way to do that is to use the T1 I also got yesterday… The T-1 should almost eliminate my need for a mixer. Is my thinking straight? Thanks for your input!

Yes. But since you have a T1® I’d connect the Digitech to the T1®. See notes below.

Yes, the T1® can replace your mixer.

Here’s what I would do with the T1®:
Channel 1 - Digitech Vocalist
Channel 2 - Guitar amp (line level output) [optional]
Channel 3 - unused (keep it open in case you have a guest and you need another microphone input)
Channel 4 - Roland RA-50 Left (Mono) output
T1® Main Output to Compact Channel 2

Does that help?

ST Thanks for the input…I changed my mind and returned the compact and ordered an L1 S1. Received it yesterday… set it up last night using your suggested connections at the T-1. It worked great… Love the sound…clean and clear. It will take a little time and playing to settle on individual channel settings/effects… I did play with the electric guitar presets…I play a Gibson ES-335 stereo, using a Y-chord to get mono out. Plugged it straight in to the T-1 selected the 335 modeling and was quite pleased with the sound. I don’t need to carry around that Heavy Cube 60 amp! All in all great stuff! My only question now is connecting an Ipad? I find the USB connection for a PC…but can my Ipad be connected. I use it for lyrics now and might like to use backup tracks. Thanks again! Shakeydave
Hi Shakeydave,
Congratulations on getting the Model 1S. Which bass module did you get; a B1 or a B2? I’m glad that you found the 335 preset.
As for connecting the iPad via USB, I’ve read some reports that people have done it wth the Apple camera kit. In the early days of the iPad it did NOT work. As I understand it, it’s not officially supported for audio. Over the past couple of years people seem to have stopped talking about that. Sorry that I can’t say for sure.
You should be able to connect the headphone output to T1® Channel 4/5. See: Backing Tracks in the wiki for more details.

ST Thanks for the quick reply. I got the B-1 I don’t need a pounding bass… Do mostly traditional country…My set-up last night was outside…I live a mile north of town and got two calls that they could here me in town! Gotta love that… Duh! Hadn’t occurred to me to take the headphone out to an analog jack…should work fine. I enjoy the forum and will check back!

I’ve been using an iPad with the camera connection kit for years. The nice thing about it is you don’t control the volume with the iPad with this connection, and the iPad EQ is bypassed. You control it with the T1. Headphone connection works well too, but IMHO, the camera connection kit makes it a little easier.
Hi stos2,
Thanks for chiming in. That was really helpful. Do you hear any difference in sound quality between connecting to the headphone jack compared to using the USB connection through the Camera Connection Kit?

I use a single B1 most of the time. It serves me very well.

The L1® systems carry very well outdoors, but this may be a new record.
