Optimum gain & placement?

I will be using using my Mdl 2 and Classic both linked together in mono to fill a 500 seat cinema /theatre so Id welcome thoughts on positioning/placement (distance apart...etc) Also, after sound-checking, I find Im having to crank the master somewhat(between 3 & 4 oclock) because of the auditorium size. Forgive the dumb question, but Im also really having to get my KMS 105 mic pretty loud, so is it better to keep the trim in the green/yellow and really kick up the channel level or vice versa IE lower the volume and boost the trim?
Thanks!

Hi Zatoichi,

Good to see you again.

Don’t be concerned about having to crank the Master. You won’t hurt anything. Eventually, you will just hit a point where things stop getting louder. But no harm will come of that. If you really need more volume consider getting more B1s. (How many do you have now?)

Keep the two L1®s at least 20 feet apart for dual mono.

For the KMS105. Keep the trim in the green/yellow. Kick up the channel volume or master as needed.

Does that cover it?

Thanks ST…were nearly covered! Im using 4 B1s ( 2 for each system) Going into the Classic from the Tonematch/ Model 2, you would use Channel 3 with the volume at about 3…is that correct? Also, dumb question part deux, Im not quite grasping the Master pre/post concept. Basically, Ill be coming out of my laptop via USB into the Tonematch and then Master out 1/4" into the Classic, so is it set to pre or post? The end result, as I understand it, would be an exact clone of whatever my T1 mix is, sent to the Classic where all I would need to do is just balance the levels between the two systems to achieve the desired spread?

Yes, you’ve got it

From what you have said so far, you don't need it. So you can just give that a pass for now.<BR /><BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote" style="padding: 10px; background: #f9f9f9; border-left: 10px solid #cccccc;"><DIV class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</DIV><DIV class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"><BR />Basically, Ill be coming out of my laptop via USB into the Tonematch and then Master out 1/4" into the Classic, so is it set to pre or post?

Since you are using the Master Out ¼ inch jack the Pre/Post signal path is not being used.
