Good morning all. I am brand new to this world. I'm with two country bands, but am looking to do some solo work and have no tracks and no software to run it on my IPad. I'm having difficulty sifting through everything on line and would love some advice. I'll be using my L1 system, recently purchased, and right now would be in a singing only capacity. Learning guitar to accompany myself in the future, but for now want a karaoke type track system, I would guess, to be able to adjust pitch. Help please!!! I'm in the US. I've seen alot of talk from the UK. Can't shop there LOL. Thanks in advance.
I have the compact L1 and I have the T1 ToneMatch. I'm getting good with the setup of it, but I really need help with backing tracks and IPad software to run it. What are the professionals using these days?
What will work best for you depends on your needs, how you like to work and whether budget is a consideration.
In addition to working with live jazz ensembles I have been a solo act for several years with standards and swing tunes. I use a PC and iTunes to play .mp3 tracks purchased from Amazon.com or other retailers. You can also play those files using the music app on the iPad but I prefer the PC because it allows me to use the USB ports on the PC and the Tonematch with a much better sound, IMO.
If I need lyrics for new songs, I use a .txt file onscreen, or print them out and use a music stand. I work with over 300 songs and have memorized most of them over time.
If you are willing to spend some money, there are various types of karaoke software available and some of them will give you the ability to change keys and scroll lyrics. I have no experience with them but you may be able to get an idea of what will work from online reviews or other users on this forum. Be aware that you may have to buy CD G files if you want to import lyrics with songs and that may limit your choice of tracks.
I have a pretty simple, low-cost approach but it may be the simplest for you to try out before you spend anything on software.
p.s. iTunes and karaoke-version are good sources for tracks. Be sure to listen to samples with headphones on. Some are compiled using real instruments and some sound as though some guy synthesized on his PC. And you will find quite a difference in equalization. Some sound very thin; others have well-defined bass and rich guitar work.

Thanks Michael. I will begin my search. Glad you mentioned the USB connection for the ToneMatch. Wasn't even thinking of that. Well, here goes!
I also perform as a solo act and also a duo with a friend. I use backing tracks for both. I use an iPad attached to my mic stand, and run Stage Traxx. I have also used OnSong. Both are good apps and play mp3s. You call up the track and hit play, and the track plays and the lyrics scroll. You have to generate the lyrics yourself, but it's a pretty simple solution.
Thanks to all for the info. I look into each and every recommendation. I learning how individualized setting up tracks can be. Every setup doesn't fit every performer. I'm also finding that some of the backing tracks info is more geared to actually recording your music with several different tracks of the background music. So much to know! Wheeeww
Karaoke Anywhere HD takes standard Karaoke zip files from any if the makers.
you can make up an auto play gig list per gig and store them. You can also lower or raise key per song which it remembers. Best part it's only £14 in U.K.
i also use a cheap DJ prigrame to fill in during my breaks.
