I was DJing an outdoor gig and about 40 minutes into the gig the sound starting fading in and out? it was literally like someone was just turning the volume up and down. it was terrible and i have no clue how this could happen. not sure if it was the wind or not as it was a very gusty day. I’ve played outdoor gigs before and never had any problems. please help.
Vegas,
Sorry to hear of your intermittent volume issue! We would want to ask you some questions to determine the nature of your issue. What system were you using that experienced this? Where were you plugged into for power? Was the power run a far distance and were there any other appliance-like devices sharing this same power? What color was your power led light when the volume fluctuation occurred?
Thanks, we look forward to hearing from you.
Hey Joe, thanks for the quick response.
I run an L1 Classic with tone match. I was in an amphitheater type gazebo at a local park plugged into their wall socket via extension cord to power bar. I didn’t even check what color the power led light was to be honest. Around the same time as this happened, the caterer did come in to the other side of the venue and plug in his rotisserie pig spit.
I set it all up the next day and ran it and all sounded fine. I am hoping it was just the sharing of the power at this kind of outdoor venue, but thought I would come to the experts to get an opinion.
Thanks again.
No problem Vegas. Most likely it was the rotisserie’s power kicking on that cause this. Definitely monitor this issue and let us know if you need anything in the future!
Thanks,
Ok, so i had another gig and the same thing happened. As last time, we got about an hour into the gig and i just starts to fade. almost inaudible at times. we turned the unit off for a bit (much to the dismay of our employers) and started it up again. An hour or so into it started again. I run mega-seg on my apple lap top and usb to the tone match. i’ve never had problems before but now i am very concerned. please help.

i just want to clarify, when I lose sound, it is like someone is fading the volume in and out. We ended up running it fine for about an hour at the end (again after a break in the music with only talking on the mic for about 20 min), but were afraid to touch anything! (volume levels etc). I use channel 4 on the base unit set to around 2 to the tonematch channel 4 was around half and the master was around half as well. the power light stayed lit green the whole time this was happening.
Luckily the people who hired me this time were friends and were very understanding, however, we have a wedding in a month that will be ruined if this issue isn’t solved.
thanks for listening.
Joe? any further idea?
Vegas,
Not to sound like a stuck record, but the same questions apply. Where were you plugged into for power when the volume faded? Was there anything else on the same circuit like last time? Let us know. Otherwise, try connecting a source to the analog 1/4" input over a period of time to see if this issue still happens. This would help to determine if there is an internal issue with the powerstand or the T1.
Thanks,
HI Joe.
I posted in the DJ and KJ forum and someone responded saying that a loose connection to the B1 could be the issue here. I think this might be it!
I ran it without the b1 and it seemed to resolve the fading in and out…so now I need to figure out if its the connection at the cord level, the b1 itself, or if it is the powerstands bass input.
Vegas,
Looks like the B1 Cable was the issue. I’ll admit the behavior is rare as you were fine for a fairly long amount of time before the issue started to happen. (that is why addressing the B1 connectivity was ruled out!) But, as long as you are operating at full capacity that is all that matters! Thanks for posting!
Thanks,
I think that after the 40 min or an hour, my volume may have been turned up, thus increasing the vibration of the B1 unit and causing the connection to become unstable… it’s the only explanation I can think of
