I’ve always gone acoustic guitar directly into T1 ch…if I try a preamp between guitar and T1, and preamp has battery or phantom, is that what the phantom power switch is for? so the preamp gets power instead of battery? or is phantom power only for mics? and if phantom power goes to ch 1-3, and I only need it on ch 2 for the guitar/preamp, how do I separate the channels…thanks

Hi krugjr,
The T1® has a phantom power switch. When you push it in (light comes on), the T1® provides phantom power to T1® Inputs 1,2,3. That’s all on, or all off.
Phantom power is normally used for specific kinds of microphones, typically condenser microphones. Phantom power should not damage a microphone that does not require it if that microphone is wired correctly.
Some devices can use the phantom power. Some guitar preamps and some guitar pickups have this feature.

You can try it. Probably no harm will come of it.

Should be okay.

You can separate the channels. The phantom power is applied (on/off) to T1® Channels 1,2,3.

Good to have you here.
Does that help?

good to hear from you, ST…yes it does help…I’m at work and can’t experiment with T1 for now…I couldn’t find in the T1 manual how to separate ch 1-3, but knowing it can be done, I’ll work on it…and it’s good to know if phantom power is “on” to all ch, and only needed for preamp in ch 2 (with guitar) I won’t damage the T1…maybe you could show me how to separate phanton power to ch 1, 2, and 3…thanks again
Hi krugjr,
Just to clarify, you can not turn the phantom power on/off on separate channels. It’s on or off for Channel 1,2,3. It’s not available on channel 4/5.
Here’s a link to the T1® Owners Guide.

thanks for clearing that up, I wasn’t exactly sure what you meant…should be good to go…if we don’t connect for a while…Merry Christmas to you and your family, ST…
Hi krugjr,
All the best to you too.
Hey, if you try this out please come back and tell us what kind of preamp you are using and how the phantom power connection worked for you.
Thanks!
