Using the Model II with a Guitar Orchestra

Hi, I just purchased a L1 Model II with a single B1 and Tonematch. The plan is to use the system at the high school I teach at for performance use with guitar and choir.

We had an outdoor performance today and I found that we could not push the system to a high enough limit for volume necessary without getting feedback on the nylon string acoustic guitars. Note: the main mics we were using are SM58s. We currently only have an abundance of SM58 vocal mics, which we use for choir; and we are limited on instrument mics such as SM57s.

We had 9 guitarists, two connected through lines 4 & 5, and three guitars mic’d acoustically through lines 1-3. (the rest of the guitars were playing nylon stringed electrics through amplifiers which were not hooked up to the PA and were not an issue. Lines 4 & 5 were not a problem as we could easily adjust volume for the instruments. The main issue was using a microphone on channels 1-3 with classical guitars that do not have a pickup. We couldn’t seem to be able to get the mics close enough to get any kind of decent volume for the guitars without starting to get feedback.

Is there something I can do with the current system to make it function better for multiple guitars or should I consider adding another Bose tower and B1 Bass with another Tonematch?

Also, would adding another B1, only, to the system help at all for nylon stringed guitars?

Another thing I did notice is a minute amount of distortion through the speakers on lines 4&5 with the nylon stringed electrics.

Also, the guitar orchestra can get as big as 25 members on occasion. Is there any advice for using this system on a group that big, or is that a hopeless though all-together with this kind of setup? I was thinking on trying a passive mixer for this and seeing if we could mic multiple guitars through the mixer, then run that through the Tonematch to the PA?

Any help on this would be appreciated.
