Where to place l1

hi guys
i sing with a choir (30 members), we’ve just recently purcased the L1 mark 2 single bass. we’re using a peavey 10 chanel desk with it. where do we place L1 to get the best sound.
do we need a second system.

Hi stephen-39,

Thank you for joining the Forum.

In order to give you a good answer, I think we need a little more information.

Please tell us about the places where you perform (size, number of people, what the people in the audience are doing when you are performing).

Do you use backing tracks?

Do the members of the choir rely on the sound system to hear themselves or is the amplification there to serve the audience.

thanks for getting back so soon.
we’re using it in church settings. we need it as a monitor as well as for audience, the church holds between 2 - 300 people. sometimes when our main organ player is unavailable we use backing tracks( not very often). our 2nd keyboard player goes thru the system along with an acoustic guitar.we then just use two solo mics out front.
our main keyboard player has decided to use his own amp.some members think the system is too loud if it’s near them.whereas the soloists need to have it slightly behind them to hear themselves. we are blown away with the sound quality the audience are recieving, with no loss in volume at any distance.if system is at wall directly behind us would sound get around wall of people. thanks again.

Stephen

just an update, we are rehearsing for a xmas concert in our church at moment. we will be performing in front of altar (not our usual position). this allowed us to place system behind us, every one happy with sound. we want to introduce two condenser mics for choir sound, have a feeling this may cause feed back. any suggestions.

I have posted this elsewhere, but if feedback is a problem with the L1 behind the mics, try the L1 in front of you, backed against a side wall, and angled somewhat towards the audience.

Come on guys, any more ideas for Stephen?

thanks matchlessman
