Yesterday, I was doing an outside event and tried to adjust the array of the F1 tops and the magnet that holds the array in place would not lock.
No matter what I did, the array would not stay in place.
Any suggestions?
Hi Scott,
That’s something to mention to Bose when you call them. They will help you.

Just called them and they are replacing one of my 812 tops and both of my subs.
There were a very few units that have this problem. They are part of the very first batch released by Bose. One of my 812 tops was part of that batch. The other is fine.
The subs are being replaced as well because of the burning smell. Again, part of the first batch.
Just ANOTHER example of incredible customer support from Bose.
I’m calling Bose in the morning. One of my new 812s no longer locks in place into the Reverse J position. As much as I love the sound, I think the fit, finish and quality control was better on the Bose L1 family was better.
Hi wavesound,
I am sorry that F1 Model 812 isn’t working properly. Yes, please call Bose in the morning. They will take care of you.

Wavesound, the replacement speaker no longer holds it position either.
Something Bose needs to address. Using gaff tape on a new Bose speaker is not my idea of a solution.
Hi Scott,
Yeah, I’m a bit worried about my other speaker. Thankfully I don’t use that position much, but its very handy for house parties when I stick the speaker on a table. My replacement should arrive soon.
Between this and the strong outgassing from the F1 Subs, I still think the manufacturing process or the design needs to be refined.
Hi Scott,

Some of the positions on my 812’s don’t seem to want to stay either. But I find if I really snap it back into the position it will work. I mainly seems to be the top for the reverse J which I will likely never use but still I want everything to work properly. That said, the bottom portions for the J position gave me a few problems early on but since I have snapped those into position more often they don’t seem to give me any issues any more. Not sure if it’s something that gets better over time as you work them in? It would seem to be an opposite expectation except that they are held in place magnetically not with friction so who knows.
Hi Litesnsirens,
Please call Bose and tell them that you are having this issue. They will want to know.
