Acoustimass 700 bass module of Lifestyle 650 not working after system update

The Acoustimass Bass Module 700 of my Bose Lifestyle 650 stopped working following a system update. The status light blinks in the sequence of Amber - White -- Red repeatedly. The Bass Module was connected wirelessly.

The acoustimass randomly connects once in a fortnight or so, but its rare.

I tried to see if there is any solution available online, and I was surprised to find this issue was faced by many owners in different times.

For me, it started when I went ahead with the installation of an Auto Update. After the update was over, it kept asking me to update again and again while turning the system off. This happened some 4-5 times, and after that the Bass Module stopped connecting with its status blinking from Amber to White and then Red in repeated sequence.

Following are the things I already tried seeing the suggestions from all other related posts.
1. Reset and Factory reset: I tried the 30 second reset numerous times. Then did the factory reset from the console using 'Setup' and 'Source' buttons - Had to do all the setup and pairing again, but no positive outcome from Bass Module.

2. Connected the Acoustimass via 3.5mm cable: The bass was still non-functional. The sound in fact started breaking from all other speakers in this setting. So I disconnected and setup the acoustimass back wirelessly.

3. Tried the USB update: No success. However, I noticed the update skips from around 50% to around 95% and completes. May be it is not able to update the Bass module and that is the part being skipped? (Just a guess). The module in this case was connected in wireless mode. I also switched off my WiFi Router to rule out any chance of interference.

4. Kept the Bass module in different places, but no change in its behavior.

I am located in Bangalore, India. Could you please help me with this issue?

This status sequence is not even documented in the user manuals.
If the firmware/software did not update properly, is there another way to force the update in the Bass Module 700?

Hi ankitverma.243,

Thanks for posting and joining us in the community!

It sounds like you have been doing some great troubleshooting with this already, so thank you for doing that and letting us know! All of the steps you have been trying are really useful steps to try for this issue!

As it is still happening after this troubleshooting, it does sound like your bass module does need to be booked in for a service. You can do this by reaching out to your local support team, and they will be able to get this set up with you! As you are in India, you can find the contact information for your local team HERE.

I hope this helps!

Did you ever get this resolved? as I am having the same exact issue.

Hi Statis,

Thanks for joining the discussion!

If you are also experiencing this problem and the troubleshooting mentioned by have not helped resolve this, I would recommend you also reach out to your local support team. You can find the contact information for the team at this link, by selecting your country/region and then the 'Contact Us' option at the bottom of the page.

I had to eventually give it for a service and I was informed the "Digital Signal Processor" has gone bad and needed a replacement.

Since the warranty period had crossed, I had to shell out INR 14,000 ($200) for the repair.

This seems to be such a common issue and I am really disappointed to have paid for the repair. Bose should look into this seriously. Why is only the Bass Module going bad for so many customers? It definitely needs a robust improvement.

I just got it back yesterday and its working perfectly now. Keeping my fingers crossed hoping this does not re-occur.

My subwoofer recently stopped working. the Indicator light flashes yellow then white then red with a several second delay then repeats. I cannot get sound on either wired or wireless setup. have reset the system several times, installed the most recent software through USB, and read all articles on the topic I could find.

I think that the LS650 system updated but did not update the subwoofer which has an older firmware version when compared to the other speakers in the system info section of the setup menu.

there is no link that I can find to download and install a previous version of the software and attempt to update the subwoofer along with the whole system again. Can anyone provide me with a download link to get a software/firmware version for the system that is old enough for the subwoofer version to be 01.09.15 . I believe if I can restore the software to this point I will be able to get the whole system working properly again. I read that the subwoofer will not automatically update if it is connected to the system "wired" rather than wirelessly... I had mine connected by wire. if this is the case then this is the only thing that makes sense because I have tried everything else.

help if you can please. thanks.
