We had every intention to release Airplay 2 in 2019 and we apologize it was not launched in this timeframe. Please be assured that we are still working very hard to bring Airplay 2 to SoundTouch speakers and appreciate your patience. We now expect it to be launched by the end of February 2020 for the following products:
I am very excited about this, but I will remain cautiously optimistic that we will, in fact, finally see the day when this will happen over the next 7 weeks.
BUT,please Bose make sure you have done complete and thurrow testning of this release, your track record from the latest updates do not impress. As we have been waiting for over two years since the first announcement about this coming, I would prefer waiting an extra week before having another unstable and errorous release coming...
@Silla - previously they had said that Airplay 2 would only come to those devices whose hardware supports bluetooth - I am not really familiar with the ST adapter for Cinemate but if it does or does not support bluetooth should be your indication if it will support Airplay 2
similar answer - they basically said that only the units that have Bluetooth support also have the hardware required to support Airplay 2. Series 1 and 2 devices do not have Bluetooth support, and I don't think Bose has ever indicated that Airplay 2 is coming for those devices.
This is great--finally! Wireless link adaptor has bluetooth though and was hoping to use my record player across house with airplay 2. Any plans with that one? Happy my ST30 and ST300 are on the list.
After reading your reply I have an add. question. I'm also owner of a cinemate (with ST capabilities: wifi & Bluetooth). Can/will this system also receive a retrofit for Airplay 2 compatibility?
