I was doing an outdoor 4th of July Celebration for our HOA Community…I was basically shaded except for occasional sunlight making it’s way through lattice work above me…after a few songs the music started to cut out…I was running off a laptop…it wasn’t that since my CD player didn’t have sound either…I noticed the power stand of my M1 L1 had sunlight shining right on it and it was very warm to the touch…I turned it off and had a small 5in. fan which I set on it blowing into the vents…We got more shading above me and when I turned it back on everything was fine for the rest of the day…first time this has happened to me.
Has anyone else experienced anything similiar??
Does the L1 have a feature that it well shut down in a situation like this?
Sorry no. In several years and dozens (if not hundreds) of events, I’ve never had a problem with heat. Mine are the L1 Classics.
George,
The L1® does shut itself down when it gets overheated. You can put anything on the powerstand to shade it from the sun & that will keep it from overheating & turning off.
Tom
Does the packlite have that same feature?
I don’t know, starvin. I’ll bet there’s something on the wiki.
Ive had a few issues before with laptop overheating in the hot weather. And that seemed to cut out.
George, I have had similar “cutting out” issues in the past but eventually discovered it was due to a faulty electrical outlet. Try switching outlets. This usually happens at outdoor venues mostly where outlets are continuosly exposed to the elements. Good luck. Bob

I found this.
What if the A1 amplifier fails during a performance? (in the wiki Packlite® FAQs)
The A1 amplifier is built for road use and is tested under the most stringent conditions. To prevent damage, the amplifier is protected against overheating, short-circuits and over-current conditions. The power LED will turn red when there is a problem and will return to normal operating mode when the fault condition has been removed. If used with a power stand and two B1s, the bass level would drop 6dB upon shutdown.
I had ,inside my house with a/c on, fan in the room, and still over heat, I ended places a Fan on the ventilation opening,it works! but for a $4000 Bose unit it should be trouble free, hope they recall it for free and fix everybodys problems due to overheating
