I have been using this work around to play Apple Music on my SoundTouch speakers.
1. enable the Bose skill on Alexa this will allow you to turn your speakers on by asking Alexa.
2. enable the Apple Music skill and make it your default music service.
3. Pair your Alexa device via Bluetooth to your speaker.
now ask Alexa to turn on the speaker, mine goes right to Bluetooth and connects. Now ask Alexa to play what ever you want on your Bose speaker. I can add my other speakers via the Bose app to get whole house music.
Not sure how this applies... The Portable Home Speaker has Alexa built in. You cannot, however, just turn on the speaker and ask Alexa to play something from Apple Music - even though Apple Music is enabled for Alexa and set as the default.
It is amazing that you cannot use Apple Music with Alexa in the Bose Home Speaker 500.
I bought it to give it a try but I will take it back and get an Apple one.
Is this why, when I ask the BHS500 to play something from Apple Music, Alexa responds with “Hmm, to do that, first enable the skill for your Bose Home Speaker 500 in the Alexa app. Then ask me to discover devices.”?
the Bose skill is enable and nothing new gets discovered
I really find it unacceptable that Bose hasn’t expedited this feature. If Alexa allows you to use Apple Music as a default, it makes no sense it’s not permitted on the home portable. I’ve always loved Bose products, but it seems like you guys make great speakers and the technology consumers are looking for to work with it is a second thought. You have multiple apps for different devices and half of the time their are glitches or they don’t work. I really hope Bose gets their act together or else this home portable speaker will be my last Bose purchase.

Sorry Bose. Another unsatisfied customer. Received my new Portable Speaker and can't access Apple Music through Alexa. AirPlay is NOT a substitute, so you should mark this an UNRESOLVED. The whole purpose of the integration is to use Alexa. I'm going to buy an Amazon Alexa speaker instead.
