Aux input clipping level

I'm using my S1 Pro speakers as monitors.  My gain structure, EQ, limiter, AFS is set using a DBX Venu360, which has a range of output clip levels from 4.5dBu to 22.0 dBu.

Does anyone know what the S1's Aux Input clip level is?

We don't have the clip level, but we do have the input gain for the inputs.

Input Gain

Channels 1 and 2
  • XLR: -infinity to 49 dB
  • 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Balanced input (Tip-Ring-Sleeve): -infinity 42 dB
  • 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Unbalanced input (Tip-Sleeve): -infinity 36 dB
Aux
  • 1/8 inch (3.1 mm) Stereo (Tip-Ring-Sleeve): -infinity to 17 dB

Start with DBX Venu360,  output clip levels from 4.5dBu. If you have to turn up the S1 Pro channel 3 volume beyond 3:00 o'clock to get it to clip, then try increasing the level on the DBX Venu360.

Thanks.

Hi, Euphonon.

You're welcome. Please come back and tell us what setting works best for you.

Thanks,

The best information I've found is the S1 Wiki page, the link found on this community forum.  It's a wealth of detailed information on the S1.  Most interesting to me was to learn that the volume controls are actually trim pots.   That's quality design!

At the time I posted my topic on Aux clip levels I hadn't realized that the Aux input is stereo L/R.  I should have been looking for clip levels on channels 1 and 2.

There is a procedure for setting gain structure in the Venu360 manual.  I'll update this thread when I have an opportunity.
