Backing Track Question

Hi Everyone,

I use an L1 model 2 with a B2 bass module and it works great.  However,  my backing tracks on my IPOD 5 play one after the other with no stop or pause. I've tried the Apple web site and asking SIRI to stop the tracks after they are finished, to no avail.  Does anyone know how to get these tracks to stop when finished?  I hope this is the correct forum for this question.  Apologies if not.

Thanks, Mike

Ipods and iPhones will play all of the songs in a playlist. The only way to get them to stop after each song is to make a playlist for each song (or group of songs).

Alternately, you could put them on a laptop/netbook and use a bluetooth remote to start/stop them, as there are a plethora of PC programs that will play single tracks and stop (not so much with Mac).

Hope this helps,
Jeff

There are at least a couple of iOS apps that will do what you want but whether there is a version that will work on your iPod Touch 5 (?) will depend on what iOS version you have on there.

Get SHOW ONE app.  I also use a DUO bluetooth pedal to start and stop tracks and move to next track if you want to skip over some

Stagetraxx 3 is going to provide you with the solution and a host of other features, lyrics display, volume editing, key change, midi features for lighting etc

I used to do similar, except I added 60 sec silence to the end of each track.

“Grinta Pro” on iOS

Play lists, key change, speed change, midi compatible, shows CDG graphics or you can hide them.

SUPERB APP.

Thanks everyone for the replies!   I did use a 15 second mp3 file of "silence" between tracks but for some reason the IPOD identified each 15 second file as the same file at the same time.  The result was that the next song was often not in the correct order of my playlist.  Perhaps it's because I used the same title-- "15 second" for each mp3 silence file. With the 60 sec of silence, did you use the same file name for each mp3 file? Perhaps I need to make each file name different?

I'll check out some of the apps and if that doesn't work and I can't get the silence mp3 files to work properly, I guess I'll just have to add some time at the end of each backing track (UGH!).  I'll let you know how this turns out.

Thanks again!, Mike

Stagetraxx....done....you’ll love it. Good luck!

Thanks AU. I'll try renaming the files and hope for the best :-).  My IPOD is a Touch, 5th generation.

BTW are you using an iPod 5 or an iPod Touch (5th Gen)?

I think they are one and the same thing AU

Hi AU,

I used different names for the pauses and it worked great!

Thanks very much for your suggestion.

Hi Mike,

Since adding an App may not be possible, there is another option to simply adjust the playlists on your iPod 5 especially to use for your performances –

If I can assume that you just want a pause (of unknown time) after one song finishes, and you are intending to go on to the next song in the playlist a bit later, then ADD a file that has (say) 60 seconds silence after each track in the playlist. When gigging, once you are ready for the next song you just hit "forwards" on your iPod, and it starts.  A suitable .mp3 to import into iTunes is attached, or you can make your own.

Your adjusted playlist would become: Song1,  pause-60, song2, pause-60, song3 et c.

Of course, if the break continues for more than a minute then you have to remember to manually stop the playback!

Good luck, AU.

great! thanks

Hi Mike, I'd suggest you change the name of your silence file first.  Maybe there is a software issue with a track name "15" or "15 second" that is confusing your playlist.

Suggest you try: Song1, PauseA, Song2, PauseA, Song3, PauseA, Song4, PauseA et c.

On my iPad playback I have had no issues with repeated instances of the same song in a playlist; but I don't have one that is named the same as a time!

Hello Mike. I too use backing tracks but from a Samsung phone.  I create a playlist and order of play. Then I select the song I want then hit the play button at bottom. Then it stops after that song plays. Then unselect it and select next one and do the same.  If you just tap on the song to play it will just continue on down the list.  I have no experience with iPhone tho.
