Be careful if using tripod for bose S1 pro

I just got an onstage mini tripod for my S1 pro.  The top edge of the tripod pole is slightly rough and sharp.  Even though I was careful putting the speaker on the tripod, it put hair pin scratches in the inside of the pole cup when removing it.  The rough edge of the pole is so slight, you can hardly feel it.  But since the plastic pole cup is so smooth, and with the fit being so tight, it only takes a small roughness on the edte of the pole to cause this to happen.

I contacted the music people who make this tripod, and they kindly sent me another one but its the same.  I think I can get rid of the scratches with a soft cloth and tooth paste, but I don't want it to happen again.  I know its only cosmetic,  and you can't see it unless you look for it, but as I said, I don't think this should happen.  The table where I play puts the speaker almost as high as this mini stand, but I'd  like to

use the tripod because it depresses the small switch in the speaker that increases the botom end response.  I guess the alternative would be to tape the switch down and not use a stand.  Have any of you out there had a tripod that scratched your speaker like this? and if so  what did you do to keep it from happening.

Another small problem, is that the speaker leans slightly forward on the stand because of the pole mount having to be off center because of the battery door.  I read a review  on someone who said for this reason, you shouldn't even use a tripod with this speaker.  I'd like to hare anyone's thoughts on this scratch problem and what I can do about it.  What tripod do you recommend if any.  Thanks.

I don’t have a scratch issue with my tripod stand, but always make sure the tripod is spread out reasonably and that one of the legs points straight out from the front of the speaker to balance it from the S1 forward leaning. I never have the speaker pointing out In between where the tripod legs are. I also keep the height at or under 6 feet so it’s not top heavy. That’s worked for me.

Please tell me what tripod you use.  Is it smooth around the top edge with no seems?  My onstage SAS 7000B has just enough roughness around the top edge to cause the pole cup to be scratched when taking the speaker off because of the tight fit and rubbing. The replacement stand has the same very slight sharpness on the top edge that my first one had. Since I nevr used a tripod before, I'm thinking they all would do this, and its something you just have to accept.  But maybe not.  I'm going to try to buff the scratches out with a soft rag and tooth paste and maybe find a tripod that won't do this.  Thanks.
