Behringer Xenyx 1202 FX as a sub mixer into T1

Hi ST and forum colleagues,

I need more inputs than the 4 channels of T1 and am thinking of buying the Xenyx 1202 FX mixer to run my mics and other instruments. I presume I can run it into Ch4/5? I can presumably then route my Kemper through it's mono out into another channel and my MacBook - currently in via USB and assigned to Ch4/5 - to another T1 channel? Any advice?!

Hi Nigel,

Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. It's great to have you here.

I'd prioritize things this way:

  • Vocal microphones into the T1®
  • Instruments without tone or volume controls into T1®
  • MacBook can remain in USB from PC to Channel 4/5
    • Preset Utility/Flat, no effects
    • You can run Kemper mono output into Channel 4 or 5 if you don't mind controlling the volume on the Kemper.
      • Yes - you can do that...
    • If you want to use a Preset or effects for the sound from the MacBook, then run the Kemper into the external mixer.
  • Instruments with tone and volume controls into the external mixer
  • Set up the external mixer, so you have a mono output (pan all channels hard LEFT, then LEFT output) to Model II Power Stand Analog input

How does that sound?

PS

Those Patrick James Eggle guitars look amazing. Pictures?

ST

Thanks ST that's a great help. Hadn't realised I could run the mixer straight to the power stand. Hadn't realised I could run anything into that input actually! Presumably I would then have to regulate the overall volume of the mixer with the power stand control?

My two Patrick James Eggle customs photo attached. They are superb, but they reward good technique, like a F1 racing car!

Some of my other guitars, mostly gathering dust since I got the PJE!

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for the pictures. Gorgeous!

Here's an excerpt from the Behringer XENYX 1202 Owner's Guide.

Pan all your inputs hard LEFT. Connect the LEFT output to the Model II Power Stand Analog Input.

Model II Analog Input

Model 1S Analog Input

  1. Set the Trim control on the power stand to the 0 (zero) position.
  2. Connect the audio source to the Analog Input
  3. Adjust the volume of the audio source to the maximum output without distortion.
  4. While playing the source, increase the Trim level so that the Signal/Clip indicator glows green or yellow.
  5. If the Signal/Clip indicator glows red, decrease the Trim level so that it glows only green or yellow.

Use an ordinary instrument cable.

Keep the length under 20 feet (6 meters).

That should do it.

Do you have the Kemper Profiling Amp  profiler remote?

Here's an interesting bit of trivia. Christoph Kemper uses Bose L1® Model II systems to demo the KPA at NAMM.

ST

Thanks again ST, I can always rely on you! I do indeed use the remote and a range of Dumble, Fender and Marshall profiles (mostly from Michael Britt) with the odd /13 for jangly stuff. Most of my gigs are Bonamassa/Gary Moore style blues-rock interspersed with some Clapton tracks for authenticity. I have an outdoor gig in a few weeks, which is effectively my 'comeback', having been extremely ill and unable to gig for almost 10 years. I bought the L1 model 2 especially for the gig. Can't wait! How do you use yours?

Using the same model of bose for my new system as you can see. I'm working it from last 3 years and its working good.
