Hi Guys,
I just wanted to share with you how happy I am to have sung through my Blue Encore 200 mic last night via Tonematch and 2 L1’s.
The sound of the vocals were clean, rich and totally what I have been searching for.
If you have check out my previous posts I have tried various wireless mics but find the Preamp of the tonematch unable to cope with the input level despite ST and other great advice on gain staging and turning the receiver/mic down. The vocals were still muffled and with the Line 6 very thin and tinny.
Since switching to lead mics again I have sang through Beyer tgx60, EV 767a, Audio Technica 2400 and although the sound was better, for me it lacked something and I could still hear some distortion even though I completed the gain staging at performance level.
With the Blue mic, I pugged it in and straight away it sounded polished before I tweaked the eq. To say I’m thrilled would be an understatement.
It’s taken me two years to get the sound to a stage where I can just focus on singing. I think most of us who have come from the conventional PA route would agree this is a totally different beast. Sound is only as good as you weakest link. For me that has proven to be the mic.
The Blue 200 encore mic rocks! I’m still paying with the tonematch presets so if you use the same mic I’d be interested in which one/s you use.
If you are a new Bose L1 user and are having trouble getting the sound right… stuck with it as once you get it right it will blow you away!!!
Signing off a happy guy in South Wales.
I’ve been an encore series user since June of '11. I have a 300.
Since my purchase - I have taken two band-mates to the local GC to try mics through an L1 system - head to head vs all the other store’s offerings.
One came a way with a 100 and the other with a 200. Another guy in my group bought a 200 based upon just listening to our encores.
Great match for a wide variety of voices - encores and L1s.
