Bose Acoustimass 10 Series V

I have Acoustimass 10 series V system ( 2 years back ),
I also have Denon 740h receiver.

From day one , i cannot control the sub-woofer level. 12db or -12db has no changes in the effect. The bass is not that good but i didn't compliant because i never got a chance to test it, if i increase the volume then neighbor compliant.

I tried to contact customer support though chat and call. I didn't get proper reply .
since warranty is over they ask for service. I am ready to go for a service, but not sure will they do it properly. I read many  blogs that service is not proper.

can anyone advice me to resolve this issue ?

if this not possible to resolve then i plan to sell this bose and buy good home theater.

Are you sure the problem is not with your receiver?  The Bose Acoustimass 10 is simply a speaker system.

I have tested my receiver with Klipsch home theater. its working as expected.
even if i remove the sub-woofer cable from receiver, i still get little bit of woofer sound .

i have two issues
 1. cannot control the db using the receiver.
 2. even without the wire plugged in. i still get woofer sound. and thats not good.

i had a chat with the bose support team, then guided me to change the cable. Let me reply this thread once i have tested with that.

Well, remember, the Bose Acoustimass module carries the mid-bass frequencies for the cubes as well as the sub-woofer low-base frequencies.  The mid-bass is probably what you are hearing with the sub-woofer cable removed.  Your receiver probably has a cross-over frequency adjustment if you want to change that.

I don’t think you can control the Acoustimass that way.

Your gain controls are on the side of the module.

Ensure your receiver is set as follows:

Subwoofer ........................................ OFF (not used)

LFE (low frequency effects) .............. ON
Crossover frequency ........................ 200Hz

Run adapt iq.

Thanks for your reply. This actually solves my issue ( i feel better sound now).
i have some basic questions. please help

<JAY> why its asking me to set the front speaker to small

LFE (low frequency effects) .............. ON

<JAY> i selected LFE, hope i have enabled it, correct me if i am wrong.

<JAY> if i need to increase the woofer level , do i need to reduce it ?

Run adapt iq.

Thanks again

set front speakers to small. This moves balance of signal to the Acoustimass. As  explained the AM does the bulk of the heavy lifting.

The AM is connected to the sub port of LFE as you have done.

Bose recommends 200Hz

Glad it is all working.

I have only two options
1.  front to small and subwoofer is ON
2. front to large and subwoofer is OFF ( so i have selected this )

Do i need to set the bass also as 200hz ?

The AM is connected to the sub port of LFE as you have done.
i selected sub-woofer to OFF then why this is necessary ?
