Bose Home Seakers - Just Cancelled my Order

I have used the Bose Soundtouch system for multiple years and own 4 Soundtouch connected speakers. Just started to order a Bose Home 500 to add to my network since they've apparenty discontinued sales of the Soundtouch branded components. I just assumed that the new Bose Home components would be compatible.. Luckily, I read the Q&A on Amazon and saw that they are not. I couldn't really decipher how I could stream my itunes library via wifi using the new Bose Home component. I just cancelled my order. I'm hoping someone from Bose will weigh in here and tell me I'm way off base and wrong in my assessment. Otherwise...I'm officially done with Bose products.

You need to do your homework.  Go to the Bose web site and read about their products and what is compatible with what.  There are no secrets.

Read both the website and Amazon Q&A prior to posting, otherwise I wouldn’t have posted. As I’ve already got over $1000 invested in Bose products, I don’t take this lightly. Just cancelled a $300 order because I’m not about to add more if the system isn’t compatible. So, am I wrong?

If you'll go to the Bose site and look at the Bose Speaker 500 frequently asked questions, you'll see the Bose Speaker 500 is not compatible with Bose Soundtouch devices.

The Bose Smart Home product line is totally different from the Bose Soundtouch product line.  They use a totally different operating system and system control apps.

It might be possible to use them together with AirPlay2.

Thanks for confirming. Guess I wasn’t wrong.

Good decision.. The statement “The Bose Smart Home product line is totally different from the Bose Soundtouch product line.” however the products within the Bose Smart Home line don’t talk to each other as you would expect. The portable home speaker don’t play in sync with the Bose 700 SoundBar while watching Tv connected to SoundBar. Sadly, this is how it is..

I think that's always been true of all the Bose products.  You can't broadcast a TV sound signal from any soundbar to some other speakers around the house.  However, you should be able to play music to other Bose speakers around the house if they are the same Bose system, using the appropriate Bose control app.

Agree.. that’s why I don’t like the argument when they say something is not working because it’s a different family of product as there’s no unity among the family members itself..

I'm not sure of your point.  You just can't send a TV signal to the other speakers.  Most people would probably not want to do that anyway.  You can send music to all the other speakers within the same family of Bose products.

The OP was asking about using two entirely different Bose systems together.  That won't work other than maybe using AirPlay 2.

I appreciate all of the salient and valuable information provided. I’m not much worried about “families of systems” and such. I’m more focused on the $1000 I’ve invested in a soon to (most likely) be worthless Bose products (at least for my needs) and finding a new way to stream my 77K song centrally stored library throughout my house and yard. I don’t believe Bluetooth and Airplay will cut it for that. Done with Bose for sure. Thanks all.
