BOSE L1 Pro 8

I don't really have any technical issues right now. I've been a BOSE L1 Compact owner since about 2009. I have used it A LOT and I can't tell you how invaluable it has been for my set up. I purchased the L1 Pro 8 last Friday and used it that evening for a show. The sound is phenomenal and I can't wait to get it dialed in. My only complaint..... no cover for the power stand! Come on BOSE! $1200 and you can't include the cover? It won't stop me from buying another system when I need to, but you guys need to seriously take a step back on that decision.

Thanks,

Jeremy Jackson

Hey Jeremy,

You sound just like me.  I've used my L1 Compact for a long time and transported it weekly for almost two years.  I ALWAYS used the cover.  Then I purchased the Pro8 and brought it to a couple of rehearsals and I was very careful with it but I still eventually spent the $39 for the slip cover.  Could they have included it -- sure.  But for what the cover cost it wasn't that big of a deal to protect my investment.  I recently purchased a fairly expensive Zoom portable recorder that did not come with any cover or case.  I picked up a third party case for it.  Actually I hope that some other company begins to offer padded/quilted covers for the Pro8 and Pro16 power stand.  There's a business opportunity somewhere out there to produce those.  Enjoy the Pro8!

I looked around a little and found a company that makes a padded cover for the Pro8.  The company is Tuki Covers (www.tukicovers.com). It turns out I purchased a cover for a Roland keyboard amp from them a couple of years ago.  This company has another site (www.amplifiercovers.com) that offers custom covers.  You just provide the dimensions and you can get a fully customized cover for your gear.

Another source I've seen with positive reviews is Connie's Covers, just search for it on Facebook or eBay. Heavy fabric type cover, never bought from her myself.

Studio Slips makes a great "clamshell" case that covers the bottom as well, with a very generous back pocket.  I'm so happy with mine.  https://studioslips.com

I've ordered the official "Bose Pro8 System Bag".  Fits everything into one easier to carry package.  Hoping I won't still need the slip cover as well with that.

That one actually looks like it's well designed and has some nice padding.  When you get it I would be interested in knowing what transporting it is like.  It looks like there is a handle and a shoulder strap.

I bought the $39 Slip cover and I was appalled at the flimsy build quality. It is a dust cover at best. And NO pocket? Come on Bose. The L1 Compact had a sturdier cover with a pocket that you could put the power cable in. There is nowhere for the power cable in the array extension. The Tower extension bag is much better built and sturdier than the pathetic slip cover. When I buy a Fender Princeton Reverb amp for $899, I get a slip cover included for free. COME on Bose! I've been a faithful and loyal customer for years and years. I even did some YouTube Video demo's that have over 10K - 20K views for my new Bose L1 Pro8.  Incredibly weak effort. Bose dropped the ball in this regard and they are losing money. Why? We are buying better covers from Studio Slips and Tuki Covers! Somebody needs to tell Bose Marketing they screwed up in this regard. I am a gigging professional and rely on Bose several times weekly. I need to keep it in good shape. I prefer modular cases instead of the larger heavier case bag they are selling for $199.

Having just moved from compact to the Pro8 i too was appalled at a) lack slip cover for base unit, and b) poor quality of cover as additional purchase. As already stated it’s a dust cover at best and with no padding offers no protection from inevitable bumps whilst gigging. It feels to be made of poorer quality material throughout with no pocket for power lead. Though I have found there is room in the extension bag on top of speaker stem for power lead. I also miss the shoulder strap for the extension case. Why have Bose done this, seems designed to cause disappointment? I will be returning slip case and purchasing better case elsewhere. Would anybody recommend better case available in UK?

I can now answer my own question😀. Purchased a far superior slip case from UK cover supplier HotCovers Audio Ltd. It is not quite the quality of the original Bose L1 Compact cover as it lacks edge reinforcement and low friction nylon lining, but is a noticeably thicker foam so should offer better bump protection. I purchased with optional understrap to prevent cover riding up in transit which the Compact did occasionally. This is definitely a gig ready cover unlike the apology Bose offer. Now I have to arrange to get a shoulder strap sewn on to the extension bag. Quite why Bose chose to downgrade the bags on their new units I fail to understand, just 🤬 irritating. Btw I do like the Pro 8 and use the mute function far more than I thought I would. Avoids the audience trying use the mic during the breaks😀.

There doesn't seem to be any Canadian suppliers for these covers. Bose definitely crapped the bed on this one!! This is a fine example of some wiz-kid in the marketing department trying to impress management by creating a second revenue stream but in the process, angering loyal clients!!!!!!!!!

I hope his or her mother is very proud 🙃.
