On Wednesday, December 12th, we will begin deploying updates for the Bose Music app and Bose smart speakers. These updates include several bug fixes and stability improvements.
Release Timeline:
- December 12 - Bose Music app updates in both Apple App store and Google Play store
- December 12 - All internet-connected Home Speaker 500, Soundbar 500 and Soundbar 700 systems
Please note: Users may see the Bose Music app update up to 24 hours before the new speaker firmware is downloaded and installed.

App Features:
Auto device discover for Alexa
- Customers adding Alexa voice to their speakers will no longer need to actively say “Alexa, discover devices” as the final step
- Alexa will automatically initiate a device discovery as part of the setup process
Improved speaker update experience
- Before this release, during setup, a Bose smart speaker was shown as unavailable in the app while in the process of installing the latest firmware
- Customers will now see an “Updating” message in the Bose Music app when the speaker has completed the firmware download and installation is in process
Confirmation tone for paired accessories
- Customer pairing accessories to Soundbar 500 or 700 systems will now hear a tone to confirm pairing has completed
Bug Fixes:
Correct time on Home Speaker 500
- We fixed an issue causing the Home Speaker 500 to display Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) instead of the region-specific time in some countries
Removed clock option for Soundbar 500 and Soundbar 700
- We fixed an issue causing the Bose Music app to present an option to set a clock for Soundbar 500 and 700 systems
