Bose NC 700 UC, Disappointed

Moving from Jabra Evolve 75 UC, which is at half the price point, Bose NC 700 UC was quite a disappointment.

No doubt its a good looking headset with a long battery life and fast charging,  The first headset i got during Christmas stopped connecting to the UC after firmware update (stopped working day 1). Replaced and got another one after a month, with several poor customer care interactions , but still not satisfied. i would have returned it had it not been a brand my wife admires.

So here i am instead, giving feedback so that this product can improve.

1> Headset design: Looks are good but not practical to use.

a) It rolls over if i am wearing it and laying down. due to the rounded design .

b) Cant be folded in and put in a bag for easy carry.

c) Wireless charging should have been included at this price point.

2> Mute button: Make it a hardware controlled button, Its more usable even when using it on platforms which are not supported such as Cisco WebEx.

3> Software support: This being a UC version, it can be better controlled if there is an App on the PC this is being used for.

4> Testing: Compare it with other leading brands to make a complete product. Specially since this is targeted to Office users, Get it tested by people who use headsets for work all day. I have tested headsets for Jabra, Happy to test headsets for you too, If you need. Just ask... rather than sell an incomplete product.

5> Customer support: A product is only good when its backed by a very strong customer support. Trust in this, i work for a product which is used by over a billion people including Bose.

Hi Tapan Majumdar,

Welcome to the Community, thanks for joining us!

Thank you as well for providing your feedback on what we can do to continue making the 700 UCs even better! We always appreciate hearing your feedback and ideas, and I'll be sure to pass them along to our development team for consideration!

With your suggestion about the mute button, are you referring to muting the microphone or the audio? The microphone can already be muted from the headset, with the USB Link connected, the mic can be mured by pressing and holding the touch sensor on the right ear, and when not using the USB link, the mute control is mapped to the Voice Assistant button isntead.

If you have any other ideas or feedback, please do let me know and I will pass that along as well!

You're Disappointed?

After what I paid for this upgraded earphone unit, I'm beyond disappointed!

All I wanted to know from Bose is why when I was on my last airline flight, the hook-up to the airplane system--a wire hook-up--it just didn't work.  My wife has an older Bose earphone that worked on both her seat port and mine.  I couldn't get sound on either ports.

Now, I'm trying to find out what the problem is...The site wants a serial number.  I'm looking all over the earphones--no serial number available.  No MODEL NUMBER either.

Anyway, I hope someone hears and responds to this complaint.

Let's start with this site, adapt that for mobile use. I tried replying from my phone, instead it marked the issue as resolved which its not.... can you please mark the issue i raised as not resolved.

Mute button only works for teams call.

I also use zoom and WebEx along with teams, when using WebEx, sometimes the audio will not switch to the headset. Mute doesn't work even if it connects.

When connecting to teams call using a browser, people complain that they cannot hear me clearly and that the voice is muffled.

While using this headset on the phone, switching between apps, volume spikes on the headphone and then readjusts.

And finally, is there a way to get a refund.. i would better use my old Jabra headset for office rather than using this fancy one which doesn't work 😡

This is not resolved   Moderator, Can you please mark this issue unresolved.

I agree the "mute button" has to become a hardware microphone mute button and it can be done through a firmware update  (as was suggested in many other related threads), either that or your programmers have coded it in a very weird way.

It can't be that hard.

You're losing future clients by the day as this "lack of mute" feature has been broadcasted quite broadly for one year now (I'm now discouraging anyone I know to buy NC700 for that reason and I'm sure I'm not alone).

Is anyone even listening ?

Your software is still buggy, Here's new things not working  as of today....

No voice prompts when i change noise cancellation

Both phone and UC connected, even though not on calls, i cant hear any audio from my phone

Using teams, randomly audio doesn't unmute and i have to reboot the headset before i can speak

I am also disappointed at the Bose 700 UC performance for WFH use.

I cannot trust that I will always get a reliable connection to Teams or Webex or iPhone calls. When I have an important call invariably I cannot just pick up the call, join Teams etc. I have to fiddle around doing headphone and microphone checks, check all systems settings, turn them on and off, turn off Bluetooth to the iPhone. Meanwhile I am missing the meeting.

I have never been able to hear or speak through webex whether via the Bose BTD or plugged in by wire.

Teams often stops connecting after about 15 mins.

my last pair (I’m onto pair #3) just stopped connecting to Bluetooth at all.

Ive bought the BTD as a suggested fix to the problems I have with Teams but this hasn’t improved reliability.

My husband’s QC35s work better than these and connect to aeroplane systems wirelessly.

I have found these a very expensive set of earmuffs when working in a loud office. They are very good for NC! Why should I need to buy a $35 boom mic headset to WFH on Teams and Webex?
