I am connecting an S1 Pro (AUX input) to a built in Phono preamp (RCA Inputs) on a uTurn Orbit Plus Turntable. As you turn the volume up (from off), it immediately jumps to "party volume loud. This is not usable in my application. I've called BOSE support and they advised there is no fix for this and I should post here for help. I desperately want to use the Bose S1 with my turntable.....please help me solution this problem. I've been researching options from passive volume controls to using better cables or even a cable with in line volume control.....please advise the best approach to control the hot preamp signal so that the Bose S1 Pro can have a usable range of volumes.
Thank you.
Hi Delandlis!
Welcome to the Bose forum, thank you for your post. I'm sorry to see you're having this issue.
The output from the Orbit turntable appears to be set by default at a high level. If there is no variable volume control on the turntable, I recommend connecting your turntable to a mixer or amplifier first, then connecting the mixer/amplifier's output to the S1 Pro speaker.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for the response. Correct. The output from the turntable is set by default and there is no variable volume control on the turntable.
Given the plethora of options, can you please recommend a specific type of mixer and/or amp to point me in the right direction? Also, are you recommending to connect the mixer or amp to the AUX 3.5mm input on the S1 or another input (e.g. XLR)?
Thanks,
Greg
Hi Delandlis,
I recommend looking specifically for a compact audio mixer with a set of RCA inputs.
The Orbit turntable should come with a cable with a set of RCA (red/white) connectors at each end - connect these from the turntable to the mixer, then connect from the mixer to the S1 Pro using an XLR or 1/4" cable.
