I am v happy with my S1 pro +. The wireless connection with handheld mic is easy and good. But lavelier and headset mics won’t work. Have tried using RODE VXLR+ Minijack to XLR Adapter to connect mic to Bose wireless transmitter but no go. Any ideas anyone? thank you.
Hi, welcome. What is the exact mic you are trying to use?
Thank you:
RØDE SmartLav+ Smartphone Lavalier Microphone
PULSE MIC-3000LJ Super Lightweight Headset Condenser Microphone
Neither work - even with RODE VXLR+ Minijack to XLR Adapter
Any thoughts most welcome!!
Not by far an expert in mics, but I notice that both of these are light condenser mics with TRS or TRRS output, probably unbalanced, while the adaptor that pairs with the S1 is for XLR (balanced) mics, possibly providing phantom power too. I would tend to suspect that the RODE adapter is not adequate since it seems a passive unit, little more than a form factor adaptor (maybe converts unbalanced to balance too, but that’s still passive.)
Hope someone that really knows about mics can chime in, I’m out of my depth here really.
Thank you. You may not be an expert but you do know a lot more than me! In principle should it be possible to get headset/lavelier mics that can be paired with the S1?
I did ask Bose customer support about this before purchase and they recommended the two mics I bought. I have contacted them since but their technical support is only available over the 'phone and that is tricky as I am in northern Madagascar
We used to have Bose people in this forum when it was run by them, but unfortunately they seem to have gone.
Regarding your mics, you might need a mic preamp like this one I randomly found to satisfy the line level input expected by the XLR inputs on the S1. Again, not an expert so take it with a pinch of salt.
Thank you. Also considering trying lavelier mic with XLR output…
