Bose Smart Soundbar 300 Apple TV 4k

We got a new Bose Smart Soundbar 300 and Apple TV 4K. We trying to make the Apple TV remote control the volume of the Soundbar. Our current connection is using the optical cable on our Sony X95H

with eARC enabled. We tried using following this forum and worked for a while and now the “living room” option disappeared 😭. Did anyone encounter this problem? Or is it because we are using optical cable instead of the HDMI arc? Thank you!

I would use HDMI from TV to Bose.  There is no reason to use optical.

If your Apple TV remote can control your TV volume, connecting you Soundbar via HDMI to your TV will allow you to use CEC between the TV and Soundbar. 

Changes in volume on your TV will result in changes on your Soundbar.
