My bose soundlink color just stopped responding one fine day (when it was being used in the AUX mode). Since then, I've tried the following
1. Bose firmware update to 1.1.5, which succeeded and the speaker came on briefly
2. Putting the speaker into "shipping mode" by holding down the play/pause button when connected to an outlet, and removing the outlet power. This sometimes helps in turning the unit back on (which otherwise wouldn't turn on)
3. Today, I managed to turn it on, pair it to my phone and have it playing music for about 1.25 hours continuously. However, within the first 5 minutes, the unit wouldn't respond to any button except volume up/down. I finally had to let the speaker go off by itself.
How do I get it to turn ON and stay ON. This doesn't seem to be a battery issue, which I initially suspected.
Yes, phone was paired through bluetooth. The speaker allowed/responded to all functions in the first 30 seconds or so after powering up, before it froze.
AUX works, but only in that initial time when I can switch sources.
LEDs when powering up are the Power LED, and Bluetooth (flashing blue, in case I'm pairing, or steady white, when connected).
Yes, different USB Charger Cable Power Outlets have been checked, same result. As of writing this, the speaker will charge (i.e. show that it is charging), but not turn on.
Thanks for that additional information. Regrettably, we've exhausted all possible troubleshooting for your speaker. Please reach out to Bose support directly in your region to explore service for the speaker, as there may likely be a hardware fault with the speaker.
I tried all of the above. When I contacted Bose Support, the rep offered to send me a replacement for $75. I declined the offer. I actually purchased one as a gift yesterday from Best Buy for $79 and now I plan to return it since I now know that this speaker's shelf life is 5 years or less.
