Bose Updater will not Launch from Desktop (Windows 10)

Bose Community...

I downloaded and installed the updated but it will not launch. This is to update firmware as suggested before using my new L1Pro32 system.

Any suggestions?

I couldn't find anything by searching the community on this other than some older posts for Mac systems.

Thanks much,

Keri

Hello again keri5374,

I can understand your frustration.  You have two different updaters to contend with, the "Bose Updater" for the Sub1/Sub2 (and the Pro32, but there aren't any updates for it yet), and the "ToneMatch Updater" for the T4s.

For the Sub1/Sub2:

  • Connect the Sub to your computer via USB and power it up.
  • Go to the Sub1/Sub2 updates page for information about the firmware updates, and a link to the Bose Updater.
  • Per the instructions go to http://btu.bose.com (takes you to the Bose Update App Installer.)
Follow the on-screen prompts to choose your country/region and to download the app.  Once downloaded, click "Launch".
  • If you don't see anything happening, don't be surprised!  There's some information hidden in plain sight in tiny print! It may already be running in the background.  I thought mine didn't start but it was "hiding" in the Windows "system tray."  Let's take this step to find out:
  • Look in the Windows "system tray" at the lower right of your screen. (It usually displays the time, date, status of your internet connection, and any notifications.) The default for later versions of Windows is to hide many other icons down there.  Look for an "up arrow" like this:  HiddenIconsArrow.jpg
When you click it, a box will pop up to show you all the apps that are running.
  • Look for the Bose logo, it looks like this: BoseUpdaterIcon.jpg
When you pass your mouse pointer over it, it should say "Bose Updater".
If the icon is there, then RIGHT-click it, slide your mouse to the line that says "Launch Bose Updater webpage" and LEFT-click it.  That should open up a new browser window that looks like this:
  • Choose your Sub1/Sub2 from the list of products in the upper right.  That should start the process.

If you need detailed instructions for the ToneMatch updater, let me know.

Does that help?

Found it! However, I didn't get a cable with my system.

What type of cable is needed. And where does it connect on unit please?

I see where the USB-C is not included...

I will let you know how it goes after I purchase one:)

Thank you kindly!

Hello again keri5374,

Edit:  You replied while I was typing.  You got this!

The Bose L1 Pro's and Subs require a USB-C to USB-A cable.  On page 6 of the Sub1/Sub2 manual, it's item # 8.

If you need to update your T4s, it uses a USB-B to USB-A cable.

Does that help?
