Buying my First Bose in five weeks

I am starting off with the L1 compact. I have saved up and it is almost time. My question is how do I run it outside at a tailgate? I have a generator that we ran my friends dj equipment off of, but people say it doenst have a clean sine wave. The thing is pretty powerful at 5500 watts, but I am confused on what to do. Also is it true that you can only connect the compacts together and not the model 2 or two l1s?

Hi icecube89,

"and it is almost time"

Exciting!

About the generator - can you post a link to the operators manual or a specifications sheet? Or perhaps faster, when you have that information you can call Bose Support

The Compacts have a line out that makes it easy to daisy chain them (connect one to another). We have notes about that here:

Compact Daisy Chain

The L1® Model 1S and Model II do not have a line out so you cannot daisy chain them. If you want to have two of these models playing the same sound source, you have to run two lines from the source.

Does that help?

Why wouldnt bose make that feature available for those models? I was browsing the forums and seeing peoples setups… I notice that some people have the b2 bass module…Do people actually Hook up the F1 bass speaker along with it… wouldnt that just cancel out the b2?

I don’t KNOW, but I can offer some ideas.

The Model II was designed to be used by performers who would have one L1® for each person. There was no need to daisy chain units used that way.

As it turned out, people found other ways to use the Model II.

The B2 was designed to work with the L1 Model 1S and the L1 Model II. It works very well that way.

The F1 Model 812 and F1 Subwoofer were just introduced last year. The F1 Subwoofer was designed to work with the F1 Model 812 (or other standalone powered loudspeakers). It was not designed to work with the L1 Model 1S or Model II because those systems already had the B1 or B2 bass modules.

There is some crossover with the way people use all these Bose systems. That means that people will experiment and mix the components in all kinds of ways.

I have the Compact, L1® Model II with B2 and F1 Model 812 with F1 Subwoofer.

I’ve hooked up the F1 Subwoofer with the Model II with B2. The F1 Subwoofer doesn’t cancel out the B2. It just adds more bass.

Having said all that - if I was going to do a tailgate, I would take a Compact. Good choice.
