Cant connect to Bose 500 via app

Bose Home speaker 500

Bose Music app

iPhone XS on iOS14

Since I moved the speaker to university it will allow wifi set up but when I go to connect to the speaker via the app it instantly pops up stating 'uh-oh, we're having trouble connecting to your product' and continues to do this, it doesn't even attempt to connect to the product, then it states I need to go onto the bluetooth settings and forget 2 Bose headphones (that I don't own or never have). I have tried turning off the speaker, disconnecting and reconnecting it to the wifi, deleting and re downloading the app, trying on an alternative phone etc. It worked fine previously before I moved to university, I only got it at Christmas 2020. The only issue I can see is that when I set up wifi it states the university wifi is an open wifi and it warns me this can be dangerous and asks me if I still want to continue, which I do.

Hey JamieP0well,

Thank you for taking the time to post and welcome to the Bose Community. I'm sorry to hear you're having some difficulty using your Home Speaker 500, but I'd be happy to help.

You may run into some issues when trying to connect to a public or shared WiFi network, such as what is likely used at your University. As you know, this isn't completely secure so therefore will give you some difficulty with setup. I'd recommend reaching out to your University network manager (if possible), to see if your device can be specially added to the network, therefore able to be recognized by the Bose Music app.

If you're not able to, you may not be able to use the speaker for streaming WiFi. I do apologize for any inconvenience, but let me know if you have any other queries.
