Channel fade when others come in

Hi - I play as part of an acoustic duo and we sometimes use backing tracks and occasionally there’s a guitar solo but most times it cant be heard sufficiently as the volume of my guitar channel seems to fade somewhat when backing tracks are playing. I have tried playing at a higher volume but in quieter parts of songs the guitar becomes too loud… it seems to shrink down when other channels come in to play and go loud when other channels are not so much in use or music is quiet - like the power is being sapped from my channel by other channels - if you see what I mean… - doesnt seem to maintain a steady controllable volume - -any ideas what I could do or what the problem might be? We rarely go past the 12 o’clock master volume position - actually on any of the tone match controls…any advice welcome…thanks

Hi pabby061203,

It sounds like you are hitting the system limiter. You can get a sense of how hard you are pushing the system by checking the T1® Output Levels. On the T1® turn the Rotary control to Prefs, and choose Output Level. See T1® Output Levels (please follow the link for instructions).

We have some notes here: L1® System Limiting.

Things to try:

  • Run the backing tracks at a lower volume so that there will be less interaction between the guitar track and the backing tracks.

  • Use the T1® limiter on the backing tracks. This will allow the lower volume passages to be heard but keep the higher volume passages from interacting with the guitar parts.

    See: T1® Compressor

  • You can Monitor the T1® Input Levels (please follow the link for instructions).
