I have been using my NC700 headphones for about 6 months and one day while I was charging them, not sure how long they charging for, but I started to smell something but could figure out where it was coming from until I went to unplug my charging cord from the headphones and noticed the plastic around the charging port and the foam on the ear pads were melted and I could smell the plastic was burnt. And now my headphones will not charge. And since my mom won these during a raffle at a casino I don’t have any paperwork or receipts for them. I went ahead and opened up the right side where the charging port is and removed the burnt part. Can I order this part somewhere and just put it in so I can use my headphones again! Thanks

Exactly the same thing has just happened to my 700's.
melted at the charge point 😞
This is very disturbing to know.. The product has been a failure since its release. I'm sure it wasn't thoroughly tested before releasing. First the software issues and now this. own up your mistakes and issue a public statement!!
The customers shouldn't be treated like this by any company!
I suffered from the same problem,
and the cable was plugged for less than 2 hours.
the picture can demonstrate the damage.
BTW I received the headset back from the lab without repair because the lab say its not under warranty

Dear Sam,
perhaps I wasn't clear,
the headset return from Bose center lab without any fix,
the lab told me that its my fault/problem and it cant be fix.
I'm sorry to hear this Tomersheffer.
Can you please let us know the region you are located in and the method you used to reach out to our customer support team?
Hi Sam.
I'm in Israel and I talked with the support team of the official distributor (Newpan),
and the headset was two weeks in their lab before they said its unrepairable and i need to take it back as is.
Thanks for confirming this tomersheffer.
We will send you a private message for further support with this.
Same thing happend to me. Started charging my nc700. After 15 minutes is smelled burned plastic. Then i noticed the smoking/Bruning headphone. Lucely my watch and cellphone didn't cought fire because they were near the nc700. Hope I get a good explanation and a new headphone, it is only 1 year old. This should not be even possible for a product of olmost €400,00!
Errrr, ,
Regardless of what I think of the firmware update, this is at least the seventh occurrence in this forum for this major issue (yes, it is major, that's a safety issue).
This HAS to be reported to the consumer safety organization.
Transmit it asap to your development, management, etc.
If anything happens, you cannot pretend you were not aware, guys.
Geez, when I thought my trust in Bose could not be lower, I still get surprised. Now I feel that the headphones can only be charged under supervision....
EDIT: and I expect urgently an explanation from Bose.
This is not playing with our Money if the problem repeats, it's playing with our Lives!
Bose, I am still waiting for your explanations on this MAJOR issue.
Making a quick search on this forum only, I could figure out 10 cases.
I'm even starting to wonder if the safety certificates are not faked, to give you my feeling about the level of trust I have in you.
Hi , thank you for your message.
If you haven't done so already, please contact your local Bose support team directly for assistance. As noted above by Hector, in order to make sure that we provide the best possible support for your product, we ask that you contact Bose directly, speaking to our headphones team.

I too bought some Bose 700 over head headphones. Have been using them for around 3 months and have been a good change from the Q35II until they decided to heat excessively and melt the charging port on the headphones and the cable!! I smelt the burning so luckily disconnected them from the power before they would have caught fire!! The smell as terrible and the headphones were super hot!!
SO shocked and concerned at the safety of these now! Tried to contact Bose customer support for days, whenever I call there is no response and I'm left on hold, after an hour each day I've not had more time to wait around for someone to even answer the phone!
Im based in the USA, and the stores are closed here in NYC. The text service doesn't even work. The customer service is really terrible!
(Thursday 27th of august) I found my bose 700 noise cancelling headphones completely dead after charging it for 4 hours. I was using the bose provided USB-C charging cable and the USB-A outlet of my macbook. I have been using the Bose 700 for 8/9 months Now.
Hi there,
I'm very sorry to see what's happened. I'd like to ask you to not attempt to use or charge the headphones again at this time.
This is something that our team will need to look into further with you to be handled appropriately. I'd strongly recommend reaching out to your local support team as soon as possible. To do this, go to Global Contact Page > Select your country > Scroll to the bottom of the page > Click 'Contact Us'. Let me know if you have any queries regarding this.
I think this is a serious issue which needs to be acknowledged by Bose!
This is not an isolated incident.. There are already multiple posts made on the topic.

Imagine, these are only on the Bose community. How many more would have contacted Bose service center or customer care directly?
My pair of Bose 700 over head headphones suddenly starting heating excessively and have melted the charging port on the headphones!! I smelt the burning and was able to quickly disconnect them from the power before they caused a potential fire!!
This is my 2nd pair and have had a terrible experience with the product, so I just want my money back, but BOSE is being un-cooperative.....
Called Bose customer support and agent said they are unable to give a refund because they are a replacement set of headphones (the previous set were returned because they were faulty).
Tried to submit a return ticket on the Bose website and just receive this message - "Sorry, we are unable to process your return online"
Is there anyone in customer care who can help me???
