Connect S1 Pro to MacBook Pro and record vocals using GarageBand

Hello S1 Pro Enthusiasts,

This is my first time posting a question here, so forgive me if this has been asked before.

I just bought an S1 Pro. I want to know if it's possible to connect it to my MacBook Pro and record the vocals using GarageBand? I have very limited experience with audio equipment, so any suggestions would be appreciated. I am assuming I need to purchase additional gear of some sort to do this properly.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Joseph,

Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community.  Welcome.

The S1 Pro has a balanced line out. The signal is the same as what you hear from the S1 Pro. That is: It has the sound from all the inputs (channels 1, 2, and 3).

To connect the S1 Pro line out to the MacBook Pro, consider getting a USB Audio Interface.

Then you can connect

  • Whatever you are amplifying to the S1 Pro
  • S1 Pro to USB Audio interface
    • use a 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable
  • USB Audio Interface to the MacBook Pro
    • use a usb cable (likely supplied with the USB Audio Interface).

This is such a fast and perfect answer ST. Much appreciated!

I want to get a good quality 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable. Would you mind suggesting one that would produce the best results?

It looks like you are in Canada so I found one at Long & McQuade.  You might want to check with them - they used to offer a lifetime warranty on Yorkville Sound cables.

Standard Series Balanced TRS Cable - 20 foot

I just got some strings from Long & McQuade. You can call them and tell them what you want and pay by credit card. Then go pick it up. When you get to the parking lot, you call them to let them know you've arrived. Then someone places your item on a table outside the door.

Long & McQuade also sells Audio Interfaces so you can talk to them about that too.

You can get similar cables from Amazon.ca but their delivery times are shown as mid-May.

Couldn't ask for a better answer than this. Problem solved. Thank you very much ST! Case closed.
