Hi, I'm a newbie just looking to do it the right way. What do I need to connect 2 F1 speakers with 2 F1 Subs into my mixer?
Hi akaMrGucci,
Welcome to the Bose forum, thank you for your post! To use a mixer with the F1 systems:
- Connect the stereo XLR outputs from the mixer (X32) to inputs on each F1 812 speaker.
- Ensure the EQ switches on both F1 812 speakers are set to "WITH SUB".
- Connect the 'LINE OUT' on each F1 812 to the 'LINE INPUT' on each F1 subwoofer (see picture below).
Hope this helps!
I prefer to separate the bass modules so I have greater control over the bottom end throughout the event. Depending on the event [Live Sound vs DJing], I'll vary the EQ on the Mains/Subs. Sometimes I'll run the 812s full range and then set the subs with a 100 Hz x-over for DJ'ing to maximize the bottom end impact.
The mains/subs separation is sometimes referred to as Aux fed subs. Drew Brasher explains the X32 setup very well at the following link (just vary the EQ for the Mains for the desired event) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHNzXSGrE7Y .
The physical connections are the L and R connections go to the 812s while the Mono/Center connection goes to the F1 subs.
**Disclaimer- I hadn't logged into the web site for some time so it prompted me to create a new login name and prepopulated it with an old login name that I used when registering a Bose product, which I unfortunately clicked on OK before it hit me as to what it was asking. Thus, my login name has changed and it doesn't appear that I can change it. Hence, I am not now, nor have I ever been a Bose employee, I just had it as part of a previous account name but it was not my previous forum name.
