i have two l1 compacts that i am going to use as powered speakers for out PA.....we have 1 t1 tonematch and we need all four inputs for our instruments and mics......I have an allen and heath mixer that we use for our other mics and instruments.....I want to send all of the inputs t1 and a&H mixer to the L1 compacts so all the music comes out both sides........My thought is to take either AUX or Main out from the T1 and feed it to a balanced input on the A&H and then use master Left and Right outputs to the the L1 compacts.......any advice or anyone tried something like this????? We are both multi instrumentalists and need all these inputs. Thanks
Hello Skaggs,
You don't mention what model of Allen & Heath mixer you have, so I don't have a specific recommendation. However, your concept of running from the T1 Main out to a balanced input on the A&H should work fine.
The T1 sends a line-level signal, so ideally you should run a balanced cable to a mono input on the A&H that accepts a line-level signal. (That's why I asked about the A&H model, so I could advise which channel/port to use.) If you do all your EQ and effects on the T1 individual channels, then just gain-stage the A&H channel properly and EQ it flat, with no effects.
Does that help?
Thanks for the reply...I'm using an Allen and Heath ZED 12FX...eager to give it a try I think it should work....
Hello again Skaggs,
Thanks for coming back to let everyone know!
I just checked the A&H Zed12FX manual. Using the "LINE" jacks on any of the mono channels 1 - 6 should work just fine. If you've already got those assigned, you could use the "L/M" jacks on channels 7/8, 9/10, or 11/12. Those channels are stereo channels, but as long as you use the "L/M", without anything plugged into the "R" jack, it will sum to mono and feed both the L and R busses (at least according to the instructions.)
Just FYI for those reading along: I did notice in the instructions that you can't use the XLR jack and 1/4" LINE jack simultaneously on the Zed12FX. Plugging in a 1/4" cable into the LINE jack disables the XLR jack. (I've seen some mixers will let you run both, but managing the sound that way is a nightmare!)
Have fun!
Thanks so much....going to give it a go as soon as cables come in from Sweetwater. Eager to try this as it will open us up to having all the inputs we need for the two of us......Keyboard, two guitars, dobro, pedal steel, fiddle and three microphones.....not all at the same time LOL....but a lot of inputs required for our duo.
