Hi everyone - just secured a late January date to host legendary keyboardist David Sancious at my concert series up here in the Maine woods! Very excited to have him back. The first time he came in '05 I didn’t have any Bose systems at my disposal and David used a surround sound home stereo sort of rig for a P.A. which worked reasonably well in the context of the small room we used. This time I will have two bose systems with 4 B1’s. David plays a Yamaha Motif 8 - I have read some posts where keyboard players were not happy with the results they were getting out of the L1 and I wonder why. Perhaps they were trying to coax a true stereo signal out of the mono system and were dissapointed? I’m banking on this sounding great and welcome any advice or prior experience - tips, things to avoid, praise, etc…look David up on Youtube and you’ll see what he’s doing with his Motif 8. He’s been out on the road all year with Jeff Beck and Sting so he’s used to the best! Programmed stereo material sounds great through two L1’s set up for stereo so I can’t imagine a left/right line feed out of a keyboard wouldn’t sound fab. Any thoughts???
Thanks,
Ed.
Hi Edpas,
Not to worry, I’ve had a very particular keyboardist in my studio who ran his Motif-7 through my Model II.
He loved the sound!
I recorded him in stereo, but what he heard in the room was playback from the PC routed to 4/5 of the T1.
He said he couldn’t tell the difference between what he heard then, and what he hears live with his stereo PA.
(except that the sound of the L1 was much better!)
Thanks Drumr - that’s reassuring. I shall proceed as planned.
