How do I completely disable Alexa and Google Assistant on Quiet Comfort 35II headphones? I do not want these functions nor do I want to accidentally enable them. Thank you!
Hello KeegDol,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Bose Community! This isn't something that can be fully disabled from the Bose Connect App as it can't be removed.
If you don't set up either voice assistant via the Bose Connect App then neither of them will be activated or accidentally added to the headphones! I will raise this feature for you as a future feature request for it to be able to be fully removed from the system.
I hope this helps and if you have any further questions about your headphones please do let us know.
Kind Regards,
Hector B - Community Support
Great! Thank you so much! I really like the headphones, but I am wary of privacy issues with voice assistants.
You can Disable both Google Assistant and Alexa from the head set ..
First go to Bose Connect which is installed in your mobile Device and wait let it connect to you head set through Bluetooth and then go to settings button on top right side and again click on Action Button ..Here you can disable both of them and select only Noise cancellation mode...
Hello Hector B,
I too have had a problem with Google Assistant. My Christmas present to myself was these gorgeous headphones and I absolutely love them. However, for the last week, when I press the noise cancellation button on the left, I am told to "connect to Google Assistant on your phone to use this feature". I tried uninstalling the Bose app from my phone or turning the phone off altogether but I still receive the same message. How can I reset the headphones back to the way they have been for the past five months? The problem is, I have absolutely no idea why it started doing this so I cannot even reverse anything. Thanking you,
Louise
This worked! Thank you so much for the feed, I now have my Bose back to where it was.
Cheers,
Louise
Nothing but excuses Hector!
Nothing but excuses!
Bose is known about this problem since the release of the product and they've done nothing! Every other brand of wireless earbuds has the ability to adjust the volume and Bose can't f****** figure it out? What the hell is your problem? I've called the support line and they don't even know what the f*** they're talking about. I've asked for my money back and I've been refused. Your buds sound great but the software and firmware absolutely suck! You guys know it and you continue to make excuses month after month after month. Well screw Bose I won't buy another product from you boneheads
I have a Google Pixel 4a 5G running the Android 12 beta. The Google Assistant was initially working but now when I press the assistant button, all I get is the annoying, "Open the Google Assistant on your phone, then try that button again". Anyone know how to fix please? I did find it useful for getting the headphones to announce the time when out walking... Thanks
Hello Kurtph1969 and thanks for reaching out!
Sorry to hear you are having issues getting the Google assistant to work on your headphones.
I would recommend that you check that Google assistant is assigned to the action button still.
You can do this via the following steps:
- Open the Bose Connect app, and connect your headphones
- In the top right corner of the app, tap the Gear icon (Settings) to enter the settings menu
- In the Settings menu, select Action button
- Select between Noise Cancelling, Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa
If you have already done that, then I also recommend that you power off your headphones and your phone for a minute or two. Then turn them back on and pair back up via Bluetooth and check the action button again.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi ,
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately this did not work. I've had the headphones for 2 years and I'm familiar with the pairing process and connecting to Google Assistant.
I fear the issue could be related to the Android 12 beta on my Pixel 4s 5G. I've tried it with and Android 11 device and pairing works fine. Currently, I'm trying to set the device up a fresh but I cannot find a way of removing the headphones from Google Assistant settings, despite having uninstalled the Bose Connect app. Any advice you can give would be helpful. Thank you.
, thanks for getting back to us. I am sorry to hear that the steps did not help. I would like to open this up to the community and see if anyone else with the Android 12 beta is having issues?
Thank you for the reply . Yes, that would be great. I have already raised this issue as a new topic in the over ear headphones forum as I believe it's specifically related to Android 12 (S) so it's probably not a fault with the headphones or Bose software. However, it will be interesting to see if anyone else has this issue. I have also sent feedback to the Android 12 beta program about this. Kind regards, Kurt
I'm in exactly the same situation as you. My headphones don't work with Google Assistant on Android 12 Beta 2, however they did work when I repaired them on my Pixel 2XL running android 11 - worked perfectly.
I think it's an Android 12 bug for now. I was able to get it removed from the device list too then repaired but it didn't go through the Assistant setup process as it did with Android 11.
I just updated to Android 12 Beta 3 and it's working as expected now 😀
I don't do that often, but did test it today sending an SMS and it worked perfectly, the second time.
The first time it bugged out, so I did exactly the same thing again which worked perfectly, read the message back and confirmed it was sent.
