I run a DJ Karaoke business and currently use two 15" speakers and amp and two powered speakers for vocal monitor. I would like to use the L1 compact but am not sure how to connect it with my mixer and retain the benefits of the L1 tone match system for vocals and instruments.

Size gigs are between 25 to 100 people often times sitting if indoors. I also do outdoor gigs where the audiance are standing. I included the the sitting and standing so you could advise on the number of extensions to use.

The music can vary based on the singers but is all pre-recorded backing tracks, some more professional than others.

I use one condensor mic with a wide field pickup pattern for the better singers because it reproduces vocals more accuratly but that mic can generate feedback if setup too close to the powered speaker. I usually position the speaker infront and to the side of the singer approx. 8 or more feet away. I am concerned that the L1 may generate feedback if used with this mic. The rest of the mics are SM58s.

The mixer is a Mackie CFX12 with 4 sub channels.

Currently I connect the computer with the Karaoke music digitally stored to the mackie via an external sound card device. USB from the computer to the sound card, RCA stereo from the sound card to 1/4 inch two separate channels into the Mackie mixer.

I also connect an iPad with stored DJ music to the Mackie Mixer 1/8th inch stereo to 1/4 two channels into the Mackie Mixer.

My mics are xlr to the Mackie mixer.

My output to the amp is 1/4 inch and the amp to the speakers are Speakons to 1/4 inch.

I also use small powered floor monitors fot he singers that comes from the Mackie monitor out 1/4 inch to RCA on the powered speakers.

Please help me understand if the L1 compact will work and how would I best connect it to the 4 mics, computer and iPad. I would like to eliminate the amp and all the speakers (two mains left and right stereo and two mono monitors for the singers) by using the L1.

Thank you for your help.

The mixer is a Mackie CFX12 with 4 sub channel mixing groups which could possibly be used to separate the outputs of the mics and pre recorded music to the mic input of and RCA inputs of the L1 compact.

I have done this many time with two Compacts. I simply put them off to the side of the performers. I use the laptop to put the external monitor in between the performer and one of the Compacts.
They don’t understand until they are up there singing that what they are hearing is pretty close to what the audiance is hearing. Once they ask where is the monitor when they get the microphone in their hand, they quickly understand that they don’t need a monitor. It is amazing!
Have fun and best of luck to you!
