Hello,
Been reading up on the S1P charging system and am curious about fast charge vs trickle. What is the point exactly? Is there ever any reason not to fast charge it (battery wear)?

Hi, Boy_Narf.
That's a great question.

Bose doesn't offer any specific advice on the whether or not to use the quick charge option except
6.0 hours Trickle charge (system idle, connected to AC Power), switch in Standby or Play position
2.5 hours Fast charge (connected to AC Power), switch in Fast Charge (down) position
There's been a great deal written about Lithium-Ion batteries and charging.
The short advice: Do what you need to do. That is, if you need to charge it up quickly (countdown to a gig), then use the quick charge option .
The S1 Pro battery is replaceable, and with that in mind, we can see it as a relatively inexpensive consumable. Even if there is some slight impact on battery life using the quick charge option all the time, it's probably negligible.
When I take my S1 Pro systems out, when I'm finished I put the switch in the standby position ? . When I get back, I plug them in (trickle charge) and because I use them here a lot I put the switch in the play position. By morning, they are probably charged up again and ready to go.

Curious. I honestly don't see the point of the triple switch. It should fast charge up to a certain point then trickle to maintain battery quality. I will take a look at that document thanks for the info.
Hi Boy_Narf,
Here are a couple of thoughts about charging.
In some places the cost for power is dependent on when you access it. That may be characterized as on-peak, mid-peak, off-peak. You may pay less for the power if you trickle charge overnight instead of fast charge during the day.
If you are running off-the-grid using alternative sources for AC power, you may prefer to trickle charge to lower the draw on the power system.

Wow never even thought of that. Thanks ST. Loving the S1P after a few days of use. Friday it will be getting a proper workout.
